Race 2 No. 2 HUGHIE- ($3.20)

HUGHIE can go close in Race 2 of the day at Stawell. The Symon Wilde-trained galloper made his debut at Warrnambool on February 1 and settled up front before just losing the battle late in the piece behind Mawallock, who looks to have a bit of ability. The son of Starcraft cost himself at the start of that race before racing keenly out in front but still managed to go 2.3 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is nine lengths better than the next best last start figure of any runner. He has the speed to overcome the wide barrier and just needs to relax a bit better this time around.

Race 8 No. 11 TANTO – ($4)

Nice return by TANTO at Kilmore on February 7 and the Matthew Ellerton-trained filly can just about make it back to back wins here. She started as a $2.10 favourite at her return and cleared out with All Sassed Up with those two putting a gap on the rest. She can handle the jump up to BenchMark 64 and was solid in some strong races in town as she progressed through her last prep. Joe Bowditch rides and will look to work up front he barrier. With even luck in the run the pair should be hard to beat.
