BEST BET 🏆

Race 3:  No.1  DIMENSION  ($2.50 with Palmerbet)

Locally-trained by Cody Morgan, DIMENSION has strung together three-straight bridesmaid finishes this time in and is overdue for a change luck. Last start, the Dundeel gelding ended up with the silver medal (yet again) when he beat all but one home in a strong Class 4, here over the 1200m trip. Travelling wide in the small field, he took the turn eight horses off the fence and tried valiantly to reel-in Two Ya Got but couldn’t bridge the gap in time, finishing half length off victory that day. The step up to the 1400m today looks ideal now with three starts behind him this preparation as the stable remove the blinkers again and slap on a nose roll for this contest. He drops sharply in grade here and after the claim, looks well weighted with 58kgs today. Watch for a big finish here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No.11  RUSSIAN STANDARD  ($2.70 with Ladbrokes)

Cody Morgan saddles-up a trio of runners here with RUSSIAN STANDARD looking the most likely to salute today. Last start, the Capitalist gelding was third-up when he broke through for his maiden win, here over 1200m and he did it in style. Drawing the outside gate (10) that day, Jaspar Franklin worked him across to lead after 200m and it was just a procession from there. Nearing the turn, he was three lengths clear and although the four-year-old raced a little erratically in the run home, he still embarrassed his rivals, crossing the line almost five lengths ahead of them. He is rising in grade here but has Aaron Bullock on board for the first time and from gate five, maps to be near the speed on settling. A repeat performance of that maiden win should see him go back-to-back today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.2  EZEKEIL  ($3.60 with Palmerbet)

To the big one of the day and we’re hoping Cody Morgan brings up another victory with EZEKEIL shooting for the hat-trick today. Last start, the Divine Prophet gelding went back-to-back in style as he clobbered his rivals in the MM Country Cup Hcp over 1200m at the Gold Coast. In driving rain, Jamie Kah rode him a real treat, having him parked just off the pace to the turn before she wound him up for a big finish. He did his best work over the final 200m where he ran away from them to win by 3.5 lengths, eased over the line. That’s five wins from just 15 starts now and returning to the country scene today, he should prove hard to hold out again.
