BEST BET 🏆
Race 5: No.8 GO GETABOY ($2.30 with bet365)
The Roy Chillemi-trained GO GETABOY is in outstanding form and boasting a strong Cluden Park record, looks the pick of the day. Last start, the Stratum Star gelding came off five-straight minor placings when he lined-up in Open company at the Non-TAB meeting at Oak Park and ran like a $1.30 chance should, taking out the 1200m event by three lengths over the line. With Lethal Lacey Morrison on board, he carried 60kgs over the dirt track and got the job done comfortably in the end. Back to the turf track today and his Cluden Park record speaks for itself, with 13 starts resulting in three wins and seven minor placings. Morrison returns from suspension today and has her third-straight ride on the three-year-old. Ideally drawn in gate two, Morrison should have him settled on speed (on the fence) and will take a ton of beating in this contest.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No.12 PRINCE AKEEM ($10 with Ladbrokes)
The locally-trained PRINCE AKEEM is three starts into this preparation and drawn much better today, looks an each-way of recording his first win on soil. Last start, the Polarmore gelding drew the carpark in gate 11 (of 12) and settled second last, eight off the pace. Lacey Morrison was aboard that day and in the run home, kept him on the fence where he made up a ton of ground in finishing sixth, three lengths from the winner. That was his third run for Townsville trainer Graham Hughes and today he should be at his peak. Morrison sticks with him today as he steps up to the 1400m where he is already a three-time winner. Ideally drawn in gate three today, he maps to settle near mid-field and with a clear run to the line, he can give this contest a real shake at odds.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 8: No.9 EMATHION ($13 with Bet Right)
Roy Chillemi and Lacey Morrison team-up again here with EMATHION who is in top-shelf form this time in and looks a touch ‘overs’ today. Last start, the Sebring gelding came off consecutive runner-up finishes and went one better when he broke through for his maiden win, here over 1300m. He drew wide in gate nine (of 10) and settled last, eight lengths off the pace. Ridden a treat by Morrison that day, she eased him off the fence and he showed a solid turn of foot to swallow them up and grab victory on the line. The three-year-old is ideally drawn in gate three today and the stable have taken the blinkers off for today’s contest. There is a ton of speed in this line-up, giving Chillemi’s galloper the opportunity to sit patiently behind them and have the last crack. With a trouble-free run today, he can figure in the finish here at (currently) double-figure odds.
