BEST BET 🏆
Race 8: No.2 JACK DUGGAN ($4.80 with bet365)
Jason Deamer saddles-up JACK DUGGAN here and after four starts this time in he should be ready to pounce on this year’s cup. The American-bred galloper didn’t take too long to settle in when arriving on Australian soil and last preparation, he managed to win three of his six starts. He has improved with four starts since resuming this time in and last start, he finished fourth in a BM64 over 2100m at Gosford. He is a winner over the distance and has Ash Morgan returning for his second ride on the five-year-old. At his peak today, he can go with them here and with a trouble-free run today, he can give this a real shake.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6: No.5 HIGHER HAND ($6 with Neds)
The Nathan Doyle-trained HIGHER HAND is three starts into this preparation and looks a genuine chance of going back-to-back today. Last start, the Dundeel gelding broke through for his maiden win, here over 1600m. After taking the lead on the home turn, he was then challenged by the $2 favourite (Satirical Fan) and looked gone for all money, but fought back like a caged tiger and nosed-out the favourite on the line. This isn’t much stronger and now a track and distance winner, he should take beating again.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5: No.8 TYPHOON NETA ($7 with Ladbrokes)
Port Macquarie galloper TYPHOON NETA sees the Tuncurry track for the first time today and is looking for a second-straight victory. Last start, the Last Typhoon mare was third-up and after 17 career-starts, finally broke through for her first win. After changing stables this preparation, she drew the outside gate (10) and taking over inside the last 200m ran away for an easy win in the end, putting two lengths on them across the line in the 1200m Maiden at Taree. The 1400m looks ideal for her today as Zac Wadick takes the reins and after his claim, the mare carries 1.5kgs less than her last-start win. At her peak today, she looks a serious player and every chance of going back-to-back here.
