Wagga Preview & Best Bets – 28/03/2024

Wagga Tips 17/02/2023

Our form expert provides Wagga tips for today’s horse racing at Wagga Racecourse and gives his best bets.

Race 1:  No.2  BOLD TRIUMPH  ($2.15 with Palmerbet)

Local galloper BOLD TRIUMPH is second-up today and with four podium finishes from his five career starts, he is on the cusp of breaking through for his first win. Last start, the Turffontein gelding was having his first start for a new stable and coming off a six-month absence, beat all but one home in an Albury Maiden Hcp over 1175m. He settled on the leaders heels and on straightening, took over, only to be outgunned by a swooper late on the scene. Brendan Ward has the reins today (after finishing runner-up on him at his debut appearance, here five starts back). He maps to settle mid-field with cover from gate five and surely today will be his day.

Race 3:  No.2  PROPHET’S PRIDE  ($2.50 with Palmerbet)

Canberra galloper PROPHET’S PRIDE resumes today and being a first-up specialist, looks the one to beat. Last start, the Divine Prophet mare finished off her last campaign with a third-straight podium finish, taking home third prize in a Class 3 Hcp over 1460m at Queanbeyan. After winning (first-up) at Bathurst, the four-year-old has just two more starts where she finished in the money, then was put out for a spell. She returned to track work earlier this month where she finished second in a trial at Goulburn with Alysha Collett on board. Collett has the reins again today where the mare boasts two wins and a runner finish from three previous first-up runs. With that trial behind her and ideally drawn in gate two here, she will take beating today.

Race 5:  No.4  OVERRUN  ($3.60 with TAB)
