Race 4:  No.3  SANSTOC  ($2.80 with Ladbrokes)

Mark Newnham saddles-up SANSTOC here and second-up today looks the one to beat in this contest. Last start, the Tavistock mare was fresh off a 21-week break when she gave a BM72 field a galloping lesson, putting almost two lengths on them over the 1400m trip on Randwick’s Kensington track. Ridden an absolute treat by Tom Sherry that day, she settled mid-field before showing her best over the final 200m and going on to record an easy win in the end. Unwanted in the market ($14), she got the job done just the same. Sherry sticks with her here and unbeaten (two from two) when second-up, she could prove hard to hold out again today.

Race 6:  No.3  HEADWALL  ($2.45 with Neds)

Local galloper HEADWALL is an up-and-coming type who has impressed with three top-two finishes to date and second-up today will take beating here. Last start, the Dream Ahead gelding was fresh off a six-month absence when he beat all but one home in a BM72 over 1000m at Randwick. On the Kensington track that day, he settled mid-field with Blake Spriggs in the saddle and in the run home, struck trouble several times before finding clean air and finishing fast enough to grab second prize on the line. He ran the fastest final 600m and was beaten less than length in the event. He faces similar company here over the same trip and Spriggs has the job again today. He gets all the favours from gate one and a winner when second-up last preparation, he looks the testing material on his home track here.

Race 3:  No.1  JEWELLERY  ($3.50 with TAB)

The James Cummings-trained JEWELLERY has won two of her four starts this time in and looks set here for another victory today. Last start, the Lonhro filly stepped up in distance and on a heavy track, proved too good for a BM64 field over 1300m at Kembla Grange. She settled a lot closer to the speed that day and it paid dividends as she finished over the top of them, going on to win by more than a length on the line. Zac Lloyd steered the filly to her maiden win at Canterbury and is back today looking for two from two. After his claim, the three-year-old carries a similar weight here and from gate four, should prove hard to hold out.
