Race 4:  No.3  EAU DE VIE  ($2.70 with TAB)

The Team Freedman-trained EAU DE VIE has her fourth race start here and has done enough at her past couple to suggest she can break through in this contest today. Last start, the Snitzel filly drew the outside gate (7) which saw Josh Parr ease back to the tail of the field on settling. There she remained until setting sail for home where she ran into more trouble. Attempting a split between runners, it closed as quick as it opened, squeezing her out where she lost two lengths and momentum. Regaining her balance, she made up that lost ground over the final 200m and managed to grab third prize over the line. She covered the last 600m, 2.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in the race and despite the interference, posted the fastest final 800m-200m sectionals as well. James McDonald gets the ride today and fitter for those three runs, the three-year-old looks the one to beat here.

Race 5:  No.3  OCEANIC FLASH  ($4.80 with Ladbrokes)

Rosehill galloper OCEANIC FLASH is yet to collect the chocolates this preparation but looks a solid winning chance in this line-up. Last start, the Sacred Falls gelding came off an unplaced run in a tough BM88 at Randwick when he dropped back in grade and beat all but one home in BM72 company over 2400m at Randwick’s Kensington track. He ran his last 600m, 4.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. Brenton Avdulla sticks with him and up against similar opposition here, he can get the job done today.

Race 6:  No.3  JOURNALISM  ($5.50 with Palmerbet)

Tulloch Lodge representative JOURNALISM is on a seven-day back-up here and looks poised for his fourth-straight podium finish today. Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding was nosed-out of second money right on the line when he took home the bronze medal in a BM72 over 1550m on Randwick’s Kensington track. He ran the final 600m, 3.1 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. Brett Prebble sticks with him here and he gets all the favours from gate one today where he maps to be box-seating on settling. He placed at his only start here previously and now three runs into this campaign, he should be at his peak for this contest.
