BEST BET 🏆
Race 3: No.5 DESTINY’S REPUBLIC
Decimated by scratchings this morning, we have a four-horse contest here where the Brian Gentle-trained DESTINY’S REPUBLIC looks a solid winning chance today. Last start, the Reward For Effort gelding kept his consistent form going when finishing just behind the placegetters in a BM65 over 1350m at Doomben. He also brings a strong resume to Warwick today which shows his five career-wins all coming on wet tracks. Colleen Krahnen steered him to victory at Beaudesert three starts back and returns for today’s assignment. Returning to the country scene today, he looks the best of these and should be saluting.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 2: No.5 BREAKING GROUND
The Jack Bruce-trained BREAKING GROUND is third-up today and looks well placed in the conditions for a forward showing here. Last start, the Snitzel gelding came off an impressive first-up win at the Sunshine Coast when he disappointed at Beaudesert, finishing unplaced in a BM65 over 1400m. He was Vet inspected but given the all clear, just an off day. He sees this track for the first time today but brings with him a two-from-two record on wet tracks and has Corey Bayliss sticking with him for this assignment. He has gate one and in the small field, maps to stick to the fence. Expect to see a different horse run around here today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 8: No.2 MASTER GEE
The Michael Nolan-trained MASTER GEE also makes his Warwick debut today and first-up off a seven-month absence can give this contest a real shake on fresh legs. Last start, the Better Than Ready gelding ended a three-start preparation with a win in a 1200m Maiden at Ipswich. He hit the paddock after that and resuming work recently, won a Toowoomba barrier trial by 4.5 lengths, indicating he was ready to rock. Les Tilley steers the ship today and from gate five, he maps to settle near mid-field. Placed twice in three previous first-up appearances, he should be on his game today and with that impressive trial behind him as well, he looks a serious player in this event.
