The John Thompson-trained ZERKHAN is second-up today and looks well placed here for back-to-back victories. Last start, the Real Steel colt resumed off a five-month absence when he broke through for his maiden win over 1400m at Hawkesbury. With Keagan Latham aboard, he settled near mid-field but finished best to win comfortably in the end. He has five podium finishes on wet tracks from his six career starts so conditions today look ideal. Already placed in two starts over the mile, a trouble-free run today should see him hard to beat in this contest.

Race 7:  No.12  UNSTOPABULL 

The Chris Waller-trained UNSTOPABULL is four starts into this campaign and has showed in recent racing that he is now ready to win. Last start, the Russian Revolution gelding handled the Heavy 10 conditions at Kembla Grange well as he beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp over 1000m. Today, he welcomes back Lee Magorrian who steered him to his maiden win on this very track. He draws gate ten here and maps to settle in the first half of the field. With a clear run to the line here, he should be there at the finish.

Race 6:  No.4  REGGIE’S BOY

Gosford trainer, Angela Davies saddles-up REGGIE’S BOY here who has been a model of consistency this time in and ticks the right boxes that suggest he can go back-to-back in this contest. Last start, the Your Song gelding was at his peak when fourth-up, he ploughed through a Heavy 8 at Muswellbrook to beat home a Class 3 field over 1280m. He box-seated to the turn then came off heels to challenge for the lead and finished best to claim the gold medal. Andrews Gibbons has a wealth of experience with the fie-year-old and is legged aboard here for his 14th ride on the gelding. He is already a two-time winner on wet tracks so he should feel at home in today’s conditions. Fighting fit with four runs behind him this preparation, he looks a serious contender here and good value today.
