Geraldton Racing Tips 22 Oct 2026: Aldezor Three Straight?

Overview

Aldezor has won both of his starts this preparation at Geraldton, and Race 4 asks whether the R K Cowl galloper can make it three straight on the same track. He broke his maiden in the Hahn 3.5 Mdn on 30 September, then won the Tonya Morrison Hcp (C2) on 11 October with Holly Nottle aboard both times. That is the clearest form line on a seven-race Thursday card, and it is where our Geraldton racing tips start.

The rest of the program is honest provincial racing on a Good turf track. Two maidens, two class handicaps and three benchmark races, with the first jumping at 1:22PM local time and the last at 4:55PM. Course form is unusually deep for a country meeting: close to 20 of today’s runners have five or more starts at the track, and the leading riders and trainers have plenty of volume. Snippety Legend is the other name to circle, with three wins from four Geraldton starts. Read on for a view on every race, the bets we would actually have, and where the course numbers point.

What Geraldton gives us today

This is a track where local knowledge counts. Several of today’s runners have built real records here, and any set of Geraldton racing tips has to start with those records. The tables below only include horses with five or more Geraldton starts, jockeys with at least 20 rides and trainers with at least 17 runners at the course.

K Backshall 17 0 5 0.0 29.4
MS J Martin 64 5 16 7.8 25.0

Three riders sit almost level on place rate, but Natasha Faithfull has turned more of those placings into wins than anyone else, with 11 from 57. Among the trainers, G B Spowart is the standout: he gets close to six in every ten Geraldton runners into the frame across 45 starts, and he has three runners today. R K Cowl brings the biggest team, with seven horses spread across six races, and his partnership with Holly Nottle has produced three wins and eight placings from 20 rides here, two of those wins coming from Aldezor this spring.

Geraldton race by race

Race 1: Tabtouch (Bm70+), 1:22PM, 1413m

Snippety Legend has been to Geraldton four times and come home in the first three every time, winning three. That is the best course record on the card for a horse with more than two runs, and it lands in a seven-horse Benchmark 70 where nothing else has that kind of hit rate. His most recent Geraldton start was a third in a Bm70+ on 30 April, when the market had him at 21/20, and in March he won a race of this grade here at 3/2. Natasha Faithfull rides for A P Scally, and that combination has won three of 11 at the track.

The danger is Divine Inanna. She won on her only previous visit to Geraldton and has a win from two runs over the past 90 days, so she arrives with a recent tick that Snippety Legend cannot match on the database. Gold Keeper is the reliable placegetter, eight placings from 11 Geraldton runs, but only one win from all those visits tells you he finds one too good more often than not.

Win bet on Snippety Legend. Gold Keeper is the logical inclusion if you are playing the trifecta.

Race 2: Hahn 3.5 Mdn, 1:57PM, 1413m

Does a maiden ever look more ready than one that has just run second? Diver Dan finished second in the Kelly-Ann Henderson Mdn here on 11 October at 29/10, a start after he ran fourth in a C1 handicap at this track. The form line reads like a horse getting the hang of it, and Holly Nottle keeps the ride for the Cowl stable. Aldezor won a maiden of the same name here on 30 September before going on to win again, so the stable knows what this race takes.

Just Petty Cash is the one with the most proven Geraldton profile, placed in both of his starts here and in two of his three runs over the past 90 days. He keeps finding the frame without winning, and that is the risk in backing him to break through. Alot Of Desire ran third on debut at this track and gets Faithfull.

Diver Dan to win, with Just Petty Cash as the saver for a quinella.

Race 3: Courtney Keeffe Elders Real Estate Mdn, 2:37PM, 1213m

Hard to have a confident view in a big maiden full of lightly raced horses. If forced, Open Throttle is the one, on the strength of a second on debut at Geraldton for Cassey See, with J See in the saddle. One run is a data point rather than a pattern, but a debut second here is more than most of this field can show.

Miss Ajax is the more exposed alternative. She has placed in two of her three runs over the past 90 days and her form ends with a second, so she brings the more consistent recent profile. Perfect Score also arrives off a second.

Each-way on Open Throttle, small stakes. This is more of a watch race than a betting race.

Race 4: Con’s Liquor Geraldton Hcp (C2), 3:15PM, 1619m

Two runs this preparation, two wins, both at Geraldton. Aldezor won the Hahn 3.5 Mdn on 30 September at 9/5, then stepped up to a C2 handicap on 11 October and beat that field too at 16/5. Holly Nottle rode him both times for R K Cowl. There is nothing complicated about the case: he is improving, he is in form at this exact track, and he is still in the same grade he has just won.

The question is the weight. Aldezor carries the second-heaviest impost in the race behind only Vivarok, and handicaps exist to stop horses winning three in a row. Against that, he has won his two races with the market behind him, and an improving horse carrying a few extra pounds is a different proposition to an exposed one under a big burden.

Black Irish is the danger. His form ends with a second and then a win, he has a win and a second from his two Geraldton starts, and he gets in lighter. Gold Lightning, ridden by Faithfull, has six placings from ten Geraldton runs but only one win, so he looks more like a place chance. Truly Gallant gives Cowl a second runner.

Aldezor is the best bet of the day. Back him to win, and box him with Black Irish in the exacta.

Race 5: West Coast Drilling & Civil Hcp (C1), 3:45PM, 1113m

G B Spowart has two in this sprint, and the course numbers say his runners are worth respecting before anything else. He places with close to six in every ten Geraldton runners. Extra Zero is the pick of his pair. The form ends 3, 2, 1, he has a win and four placings from five Geraldton starts, and Jason Li takes the ride. Caleb, with T Turner aboard, is the second string.

Flaming Dragon is the obvious threat. Like Extra Zero, his form finishes with a win, and he has won once and placed three times from five runs here for W R Parker and Jefferson Tsang. Rubick Delight is the Cowl runner and has a win from two Geraldton starts, finishing second at his latest run.

Weaponize deserves a line: four placings from seven Geraldton starts without a win. He will probably run a place again and probably not win.

Win bet on Extra Zero, with Flaming Dragon the saver.

Race 6: Kirrilee Warr Mla (Bm58+), 4:22PM, 1113m

Sneaky Session carries the second-lightest weight in the race and brings the best Geraldton strike rate of any runner on the card with five or more starts here: two wins and four placings from five. That combination, proven at the track and well in at the weights, is hard to argue against in a Benchmark 58 sprint. The form reads 3, 6, 2, 1, 1, 6, so the last start was below par, but the two wins before it show what he does when things go right. Ebony Johnson rides for Kym Tilka.

Fire The Guard is the busiest horse in the race, with seven runs over the past 90 days for a win and four placings. That is a fit, consistent profile, and Sharni Webster rides for Robert Gulberti. Diego Dynamite has placed three times from four runs in the same window. Safe Hustle has had nine Geraldton starts but only one win.

Each-way on Sneaky Session. The weight and the course record make the place part close to a given, and the win part pays if the last run was a blip.

Race 7: Melbourne Cup Day Marquee Tickets On Sale (Bm58+), 4:55PM, 1413m

Giles and Cantilever arrive with the two best Geraldton records in the last race, and they get there in different ways. Giles has won twice from five starts here and placed three times. Cantilever has also won twice, but from eight starts, with four placings, and his last three runs were all thirds. One wins more often; the other keeps turning up for a place.

Giles gets the vote. He ran second here on 30 September at 17/1 in a Bm58+, then fourth on 11 October at 11/2 in another Bm58+ sprint. Holly Nottle rides again for Cowl, and the 1413m is no worry for a horse with two wins at this track. The market let him go at big odds last time he placed here, and that is the kind of underestimation worth taking advantage of.

Cantilever is the danger. He carries topweight, which explains some of those thirds, but he keeps finishing close and Laqdar Ramoly is one of the three riders who place with close to half their Geraldton mounts. Hot Puddin has a win and a second from two runs here but has not placed in three runs over the past 90 days.

Win and place on Giles. Cantilever goes in underneath in the exotics.

Where the money goes

NAP: Aldezor (Race 4, 3:15PM). Two from two this preparation and both at this track. He is the most progressive horse on the card and the step to a third win in the same class is a small one.

Value: Giles (Race 7, 4:55PM). Two Geraldton wins, three placings from five, and he was allowed to start at 17/1 when second here in September. He rarely runs a bad race here.

Banker: Snippety Legend (Race 1, 1:22PM). Placed in all four Geraldton starts with three wins. In a field of seven he is the safest leg for a multi on the card.

Each-way: Sneaky Session (Race 6, 4:22PM). Four placings from five starts here and one of the lightest weights in the race.

Course angle: G B Spowart. His Geraldton runners hit the frame close to six times in ten, and Extra Zero in Race 5 is the one to follow today. Holly Nottle on a Cowl runner is the second angle: Aldezor, Diver Dan and Giles all come from that combination.

If Aldezor wins again, the Cowl and Nottle pairing will be the first thing to check every time Geraldton races this spring.
