Kilcoy Racing Tips 6 Oct 2026 — can Trusty Bandit do it again?
Opening
There are meetings where you’re shopping for angles, and then there are meetings where one horse basically grabs you by the collar. Trusty Bandit is that horse at Kilcoy today. He’s been here three times for two wins and a placing, and in a small country Benchmark over 2078m that kind of familiarity matters, especially when plenty of these are still working out what they are.
We’ve got five races on turf, a card that leans heavily to maidens early and a staying BM58 in the middle that looks the best betting race of the day. These Kilcoy racing tips aren’t built off romance either. Where we do have track history, I’ll use it, and where we don’t, I’ll treat it for what it is: a single data point. Let’s get into the runners who can actually win and the ones you can safely let go around.
Kilcoy — the setup
Track specifics are always the first filter, but there’s limited deep course form across today’s fields. Most runners have only one or two visits to Kilcoy, so I’m leaning more on current form patterns, barriers, weights, and how each race is likely to be run.
What we can trust from the course file today sits with a handful of jockeys who’ve ridden the place plenty, and one or two horses with enough course reps to matter.

Race-by-race: Kilcoy predictions
Race 1: Ladbrokes Turn On Flex Multi Mdn Plate — 13:34, 1640
The market will probably try to talk you into something with upside, but I’m siding with the mare who keeps putting herself in the fight. Langdown Legacy (gate 8) has been hanging around the mark and her recent form line reads like a horse ready to land a maiden: she’s been second and third in her last few campaign runs, and over the last 90 days she’s hit the frame in two of four starts. That’s not brilliance, but it’s reliability, and in a race full of horses who find ways not to win, reliability is a weapon.
The danger is Sweedish Queen (gate 4). The profile says she’s not far away either and the draw is kinder, which matters at a mile when you don’t want to spend petrol early. If she gets the softer run in the first half of the race, she can pinch it.
Play: Win bet Langdown Legacy. Small saver quinella with Sweedish Queen if you’re the cautious type.
Race 2: Great Northern Brewery Mdn Hcp — 14:12, 1312
Here’s the puzzle: do you want the stable with the course record, or the horse with the map? I’m leaning stable. Quantum Overdrive (gate 8) comes through the Annabel Neasham and Rob Archibald yard, and they’ve won with one of every three runners they’ve brought to Kilcoy. That’s not a random stat either, it’s three runners and a strike, and it tells you they place them with intent.
He was only sixth on debut, but this is the kind of race where second-up improvement does the heavy lifting, and the yard booking reads like “we’re not here for a picnic”. The wide gate isn’t ideal, but in a maiden handicap over 1312m you can still slide across if the speed isn’t frantic.
Mishani Senorita (gate 3) is the obvious danger because she’s been around the money often enough. Over the last 90 days she’s placed in two of four starts, and she’s visited Kilcoy twice for one placing. She doesn’t win many, but she makes her own luck from a handy draw.
Play: Win bet Quantum Overdrive. If the market goes too short, switch to a straight quinella with Mishani Senorita.
Race 3: RQ Safe Work Month (Bm58) — 14:47, 2078
The shape sets up beautifully for a horse who can absorb a staying pressure race and still sprint off the turn, and that’s why I’m with Trusty Bandit (gate 4). He’s a proper Kilcoy horse without me needing to call him a “specialist” yet: three runs here for two wins and a placing. That’s more than a coincidence, and it’s backed by the right kind of jockey too, with B Lerena winning better than one in five rides at this track from genuine volume.
He’s also the right price type. Plenty of these have ceiling questions. Trusty Bandit has an answer at the venue and he gets in with 128.9. If the leaders overdo it early, he’s strong enough to roll into it from the 600m and keep going.
Brass Band (gate 6) is the danger because he’s in ripping overall form. In the last 90 days he’s run six times for one win and he’s placed in all six. That’s the definition of honest. He’s also been to Kilcoy twice and placed both times. If the race turns into a sit and sprint, Brass Band’s consistency makes him the horse most likely to punish mistakes.

Play: Win bet Trusty Bandit. Exacta box with Brass Band if you want to get paid for being right twice.
Race 4: More From Tote With Ladbrokes (Bm60) — 15:27, 1640
The market problem here is simple: it will overreact to weight and underreact to proven Kilcoy competence. Drialle (gate 2) carries 132.2, which scares people, but he’s been to Kilcoy twice for a win and a placing. That’s enough evidence to say he handles the place and the pattern. His recent record is solid too: six runs in the last 90 days for one win and three placings. He’s not flying, but he keeps turning up.
I also like the map. Gate 2 gives William Galloway options, and he’s no stranger to riding this circuit, winning one in five here and placing half the time from 10 rides. If Drialle lands one-one or leaders-back, the weight becomes manageable because he’s not wasting energy.
Privalova (gate 6) is the clear danger. She won on her only start at Kilcoy, and over the last 90 days she’s won one of three and placed twice. She’s the improver type in the race and she meets Drialle a lot better at the weights.
Play: Win bet Drialle. Save on Privalova if she’s a backable price, because she’s the one that can jump a grade.
Race 5: Exchange Hotel Mdn Plate — 16:04, 1312
Two profiles, two very different risks. It’sall About Mary (gate 4) has the exposed form and the consistent effort. She’s been around the mark often enough and the draw gives Ryan Houston a clean crack at this without doing anything fancy early. Over the last 90 days she’s had three runs for one placing and an average finishing position of 4.0, which reads like a horse who’s competitive at this level even if she hasn’t broken through yet.
The threat comes from the lightly-raced types, especially the ones drawn to get cover and present late. Mishani Cabello (gate 15) has shown enough (8252) to say she can run a race, but the draw makes her job harder because she’ll need luck or early intent. Threeeyedwitch (gate 14, currently listed as a non-runner) would have been a major danger on form (244333) if she actually takes her place. Keep an eye on late changes.
Play: Each-way It’sall About Mary. If you don’t like betting into wide-drawn maidens, make this your watch race and save the cash for earlier.
The plays
This is a Kilcoy card where I want to be aggressive in the staying race and measured everywhere else. The maidens have enough “nearly horses” that you can burn through bankroll chasing certainty that isn’t there.
NAP: Trusty Bandit (Race 3, 14:47). Three goes at Kilcoy for two wins and a placing is the loudest signal on the meeting, and the race conditions suit his grind.
Value: Drialle (Race 4, 15:27). The weight will keep some punters off, but he’s proven at this track with a win and a placing from two visits, and the low gate keeps him out of trouble.
Banker for multis: Brass Band (Race 3, 14:47) to run top 3. Six starts this prep window with six placings tells you he turns up, even when he doesn’t get the perfect run.
Each-way play: It’sall About Mary (Race 5, 16:04). Map plus consistency makes her the safest way to play a messy maiden.
Course angle to keep using: Leslie Tilley keeps delivering here, placing in 10 of 13 rides at Kilcoy. When he lands on something with even a sniff of form, you don’t ignore it.
Next time Neasham and Archibald send one to a small Queensland track like this, take it seriously early, they don’t travel just to make up numbers.
