Nowra Racing Tips 18 Oct 2026: Can Kool Kade Go Again?

Overview

Kool Kade has been in the first three at all four of his runs over the past 90 days, winning two of them, and he lands at Nowra on Sunday as the most reliable horse on a seven-race card. He carries top weight in the Kevin & Dawn Robinson Memorial, and that is the only real question about him. The stable runs well here too: Mitchell Beer and George Carpenter have placed eight of their twelve Nowra runners.

The track is rated Soft, the card runs from 1:45PM to 5:15PM, and the distances run from 1100m up to 1600m. Live prices were only up for the first two races when this was written, so most of these Nowra racing tips are form and connections reads rather than market calls. Expect a firm view on Regor in the early handicap, an argument for Alabama Showdown in the Mollymook Cup, and a few races where the right move is a small bet or none at all.

Nowra: the setup

Soft ground everywhere on the card, and scratchings have already hit the back half: Showmara and On Point Pixie are out of Race 4, Ciao Bella Mia has been scratched from the Mollymook Cup (she stays in Race 3), and Pariah Time, Mardyke and Ponzi Scheme are gone from the maiden handicap.

Limited course form across today’s fields: most runners have one or two starts here. Rawano has had five runs at the track without a placing, and More Mischief has placed in two of her three Nowra visits. That is about the extent of genuine horse form at the track. The riders and stables carry more weight in today’s Nowra racing tips.

Jockeys at Nowra

C Lever 5 0 3 0.0 60.0

K S Latham 26 4 14 15.4 53.8

Trainers at Nowra

Trainer Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
Natalie Jarvis 4 1 3 25.0 75.0
Mitchell Beer & George Carpenter 12 2 8 16.7 66.7
David Pfieffer 3 1 2 33.3 66.7
Matthew Dale 12 3 7 25.0 58.3
Matthew Smith 15 2 8 13.3 53.3
Anthony Mountney 4 2 2 50.0 50.0
K Dryden & L Snowden 9 3 4 33.3 44.4

Collett is the name to keep in mind all afternoon. He hits the frame on nearly three of every four Nowra rides, from a decent sample, and he has seven rides on the card. Latham has the most Nowra rides of anyone engaged and partners Matthew Dale’s Snap Decision in Race 4. Dale’s own record, three winners and seven placings from twelve runners, is the trainer line that matters most for the early races.

Nowra race-by-race

Race 1: Michael ‘Mick’ Locke Memorial Country Boosted Mdn Plate, 1:45PM, 1100m

Does a debutante deserve to start at 2.15? That is what the market says about Lady Mariana, who has never raced, with Unibet holding the top price. She has two things going for her: Dryden and Snowden have won with three of their nine Nowra runners, and Collett rides. Still, it is a short quote for an unknown on soft ground.

Rebel Terra is the one with the form on paper: third on debut and drawn 4, and Pat Murphy’s runners have hit the frame in half of his six Nowra starts. At 3.40 with Unibet, Rebel Terra is the logical alternative to the debutante.

The price that stands out is Cool As Ted at 6.00 with Bet Right. He has been close to winning: second at his only run in the past 90 days and in the frame twice from five career starts. Barrier 8 is the outside gate in an eight-horse field, so Dale Cole will need to find cover, but the experience edge over this field is real.

Rebel Terra to win, Cool As Ted each-way. The debutante is the danger, not the bet.

Race 2: Ais Certifiers Eddie Latta Memorial Country Boosted Hcp (C1), 2:20PM, 1200m

Regor is the bet here. He won last start after a second the run before, so both his runs in the past 90 days have ended in the first two. Matthew Dale has won with a quarter of his Nowra runners and placed with well over half of them, and barrier 2 lets Nick Heywood hold a spot just off the speed without having to burn petrol.

The market agrees, at 2.80 with Unibet, and it is hard to argue with. A Class 1 handicap is exactly where an improving horse coming off a win should be placed.

Bold Conquer is the clear danger. He also won last start, has only had two runs, both in the frame, and drops into the field with a light weight from barrier 4. At 5.25 with Bet Right he has the profile of a horse that could keep improving. Bound To Fire, second at his only run in the past 90 days and placed in one of his two Nowra starts, rounds out the trifecta pool at 7.00 with Unibet.

Win bet on Regor. He is the safest anchor on the card for multis.

Race 3: Kevin & Dawn Robinson Memorial (Bm58), 2:55PM, 1400m

Kool Kade is the horse of the day at Nowra. Four runs in the past 90 days for two wins and two placings is the most consistent recent record among anyone on this card, and his form line, 572131, shows a horse that has worked out what racing is about. He has had two goes at Nowra for one placing, so the track is not a mystery to him either.

The weight is the question. He carries top weight, and that is what happens when a horse keeps winning in benchmark company. On soft ground over 1400m it will be felt. Against that, Deon le Roux has placed in half his eight Nowra rides, and the stable is the busiest winner-producer on the card with two wins and eight placings from twelve runners.

The same stable also runs Perchance, who has won one of two runs in the past 90 days and ran third on the only Nowra start. Perchance is the second-string with a lighter weight and Pierre Boudvillain aboard, which makes her the obvious danger if the weight tells on Kool Kade late.

Ciao Bella Mia is the other one to respect. Ciao Bella Mia has placed three times from five runs in the past 90 days without winning, and Anthony Mountney has won with two of his four Nowra runners. Celestial Grace placed on her only course start and is a fair each-way chance from barrier 9.

No live market was up at the time of writing. When it opens, Kool Kade to win is the strongest play of the afternoon, with Perchance as the saver.

Race 4: Bede Murray Memorial (Bm58), 3:30PM, 1600m

Two horses in this field have won at their only Nowra start: Snap Decision and Gunfighter Road. That is a data point, not a trend, but it narrows the search.

Snap Decision gets the vote. He has had five runs in the past 90 days, one win and three placings, so he arrives fit and in form. He comes from the Matthew Dale yard that does so well here, and K S Latham has the most Nowra rides of any jockey on the card. Barrier 3 is perfect over the mile.

Gunfighter Road ran fourth at his only run in the past 90 days, which leaves more to prove, but he does have the Nowra win and Louise Day has ridden three winners here. He is the one to include in exotics.

Astrogazer will probably be the popular choice with Collett on and David Pfieffer’s strong record here, but two placings from four recent runs without a win says he finds one or two too good. More Mischief is the each-way bet in the race: she has placed in two of her three Nowra starts and drawn barrier 2, the sort of profile that runs a place at a price.

Snap Decision to win, More Mischief each-way.

Race 5: Ckb Civil Mollymook Cup (Bm66), 4:05PM, 1200m

The cup sets up as a contest between consistency and the market’s favourite stable. Alabama Showdown is the consistent one: three runs in the past 90 days for a win and two placings, and a 43212 form line that has not dropped out of the first four in five starts. Joseph Pride has had one Nowra runner and won with it, and Collett rides. That combination gets the vote.

Duck For Cover is the main danger. Anthony Mountney has won with two of his four Nowra runners, and Boudvillain wins more than one in five rides here. The worry is recent form: one placing from three runs in the past 90 days. If he brings his best, he is right in it, and Mountney has a habit of producing them ready at this track.

Commanding Belle has a win in her record but only one placing from three recent runs. Super Jaie from barrier 1 will be handy and is the each-way roughie. Nights Inferno is listed without a rider, so check the final field before you bet.

Alabama Showdown to win, Duck For Cover as a saver.

Race 6: Broughton Landscapes Mdn Hcp, 4:40PM, 1200m

Maiden handicaps with twenty acceptors and three scratchings rarely reward big confidence. This one comes down to the horse that has been knocking on the door against the stables with fresh, lightly-raced types.

Cold Mist has been knocking hardest. Her 2-43224 form shows six starts without finishing worse than fourth, and over the past 90 days she has run two seconds from three starts. She carries one of the lightest weights in the field, and Dale Cole knows how to ride a horse that needs luck from a wide draw. The draw is the problem: barrier 17, though scratchings will bring that in a little.

Matthew Smith has three in the race, Fierce Critic, Baylie’s Folly and Fizz Wizz, and his Nowra record is eight placings from fifteen runners, so one of them is likely to run a place. Nicolosi is the stable-move horse: Waterhouse and Bott sent him to Nowra after one run, and that alone makes him a threat. Let’s Engage, for Mountney and Louise Day, has a low draw but no placings from two recent starts.

Small each-way on Cold Mist. Keep stakes light in this one.

Race 7: Turf Co Mdn Plate, 5:15PM, 1400m

Scoop The Pool and Tiger Turf come at this from different directions. Scoop The Pool has a 232523 form line, placed in five of six starts, and the trainers John O’Shea and Tom Charlton have placed with both of their Nowra runners, winning with one. Tiger Turf is the younger horse, a three-year-old, with Collett riding and a lighter weight, but only one placing from three runs in the past 90 days.

Scoop The Pool gets the vote because he has already proved he can run a place in this grade over and over, and maiden plates on soft ground tend to reward that sort of horse. Barrier 14 is a test, but the scratchings of Moordyup and Morosini help a little.

Kiss Of Gold for Matthew Smith ran fourth in a single Nowra start and has one placing from five recent runs, with Ashley Morgan aboard (four placings from six rides here), and is a place chance. Maxis Legacy for Natalie Jarvis, whose runners have placed three from four here, is worth a look in exotics.

Scoop The Pool to win, Tiger Turf the danger. Exacta box the pair.

Where the money goes

NAP: Kool Kade (Race 3, 2:55PM). Two wins and two placings from his last four, a stable that places with two-thirds of its Nowra runners, and a rider who knows the track. Top weight is the only thing stopping him being an easy pick.

Value: Cool As Ted (Race 1, 1:45PM). At 6.00 with Bet Right, he is the most experienced horse in a field led by a debutante at 2.15. Second at his latest start, he has earned a better quote than that.

Banker: Regor (Race 2, 2:20PM). First or second in both recent runs, from a stable with three winners here, and a good draw. Price 2.80 with Unibet.

Each-way: More Mischief (Race 4, 3:30PM). Two placings from three Nowra runs and barrier 2 in a field that thinned with scratchings.

Course angle: A B Collett’s rides. He places 18 times from 25 Nowra rides and has seven mounts today, including Alabama Showdown in the cup. For exotics, he is the rider to include more often than not.

If the Beer and Carpenter stable keeps producing horses as consistent as Kool Kade, their runners will be the first place to look on any Nowra card this spring.
