Moke Lake is the one I want to be with, and I’m not trying to be clever about it. That form line reads like a horse that keeps turning up and doing enough to be competitive without quite getting the breaks: 3-2-3-2-4-4. On this sort of card, that consistency matters, because plenty of these are either raw debutants or the type that’s already told you they don’t really want to go past horses.

Race 4: Emirates Park Country Boosted (Bm58) — 15:20, 1531m
Here’s the question I can’t get away from: do you back the last-start winner with the soft draw, or do you take the horse with the stronger overall recent pattern and forgive a tougher setup? I’m siding with the former and making Warbreccan the play.
He comes through with form 324-81, and that last-start win suggests the penny has dropped. Gate 4 is a big tick in this field, and G Buckley can give him a “no dramas” run: not fighting the horse, not hunting for gaps, just landing in the right spot and building.
