Warrnambool Tips 31/7/2023

BEST BET 🏆 (WIN)

Race 8 No. 6 CROSSHILL- ($5.50)

GRAND ROCK can end a drought that extends back nearly four years. The six-year-old claimed two of his first three starts as a two-year-old in the UK and was sent to the Chris Waller stable but never quite fired, although he did play in a few stronger races than this. He is now in the hands of the Geelong trainer, Robert MacLeod, and has placed in three of his past four. At his most recent start, he stepped out at Werribee in a BM64 and engaged in a bumping duel at the business end before being nosed out by Classy Joe, with connections firing off an unsuccessful protest.

BEST VALUE 💰(EACH-WAY)

Race 4 No 12 NIGHT OF MAYHEM- ($14.20)

NIGHT OF MAYHEM can go close at the each-way quote in Race 4. The five-year-old tends to save her best for the Warrnambool track and was a solid winner here in this grade two starts ago. That came over the 1100m and she won in a head-bobber from Thunderanlightning, who has since come out and won. Those two put a big gap on the rest. Night Of Mayhem has since tackled a BenchMark 70 at Sandown and held her own when a three-length 7th behind The Sisters. Recent form looks very good for this and with even luck from the barrier she can go very close.
