BEST BET 🏆

Race 6:  No.9  MISS BOOM BOOM  ($3.40 with Palmerbet)

The Annabel Neasham-trained MISS BOOM BOOM resumes off a 19-week break today and has done enough in recent trials to suggest she is a winning chance here. Last start, the Snitzel filly ended a very successful campaign by breaking through for her maiden win over 1300m at Ballina. Sent out at a white-hot $1.35 favourite, on a Heavy 9 that day, she didn’t disappoint, leading all the way. She returned to work last month and has trialled twice, winning the last of those at Beaudesert. She finished runner-up when first-up last preparation and has winning rider Ben Looker sticking with her today. On fresh legs, she will take beating here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7:  No.4  BURDEKIN  ($3.80 with bet365)

Brett Cavanough saddles-up BURDEKIN here who is second-up and drawn for a big effort today. Last start, the Written Tycoon gelding was fresh off an 18-week spell when he beat all but one home in a BM58 Hcp over 1200m at Murwillumbah. Carrying 59kgs, he settled mid-field and ran home strongly to grab the second prize cheque, beaten less than a length on the line. His one start at this track ended in another runner-up finish, four starts back. Already a winner when second-up, he gets the gun run from gate one and maps to settle just behind the pace. With a trouble-free run here, he looks a major threat to this field today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 9:  No.4  DRAGON SONG  ($5.60 with BoomBet)

Gold Coast galloper DRAGON SONG has hit the ground running this time in and lines-up here a definite winning chance today. Last start, the Worthy Cause filly came off a big first-up win at Ballina when she beat all but one home in a BM62 Hcp over 1500m at Warwick, beaten a neck on the line. Trainer, Michael Morrison, has made gear changes today, fitting winkers and a tongue tie for the first time. Anthony Allen rode the three-year-old to that maiden win at Ballina and is back for today’s assignment. She gets all the favours from gate one today and maps to be box-seating on settling. Fitter for two runs back, she looks a genuine threat here.
