The final field and barrier draw for Friday night’s Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m) at The Valley was declared on Wednesday with a field of 11 sprinters competing.

Three-year-old colt Profiteer has drawn barrier seven for the Moir Stakes. Trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr, the colt will be ridden by Jye McNeil for the first time.

Profiteer won his first two career starts as a two-year-old before running in the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) where he finished a narrow second to Anamoe. Profiteer was then sent out as a $4 chance in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) where he finished in seventh place.

The lightly-raced colt carries 52kg in the Moir which is a weight-for-age event.

Five-year-old gelding The Inferno has drawn gate five for trainer Cliff Brown.

The winner of nine races from 11 starts, The Inferno was victorious over course and distance last time out in the Group 2 McEwen Stakes (1000m) that saw Portland Sky finish second and September Run third.

Both of those horses compete in the Moir Stakes with Portland Sky coming up with barrier eight and September Run has drawn the inside gate.
