Overview
Vampi Queen has been to Belmont Park twice and won both times, and on Wednesday it lines up in the 1600m C3 handicap with the course record nobody else in the field can match. The recent record is just as tidy: two wins and three top-three finishes from four starts over the last 90 days. That makes Race 7 the anchor of these Belmont Park racing tips, and the race the rest of the card gets measured against.
There are eight races in all, from a 1000m three-year-old sprint at 1:29PM through to a 2100m benchmark staying test at 5:42PM, with the track rated Good to Soft. The opening half is maiden-heavy and thin on course form. The back half is where the real betting sits: three handicaps and a staying race that make up the quaddie. W Pike has four rides, and Pike’s Belmont strike rate is the loudest number on the whole card. Below you’ll find the course form worth trusting, a view on every race, and where the money goes.
What Belmont Park gives us today
A Good to Soft surface and a card where most of the runners have one or two starts at the track at best. Fourteen of today’s horses have been here three or more times, so there is enough to build a table, but plenty of those numbers are zeros. The ones that matter are Grandad’s Adiction, Joyoh, Redrye and Space Academy.
| Horse | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grandad’s Adiction | 7 | 2 | 3 | 28.6% | 42.9% |
| Admired | 7 | 1 | 1 | 14.3% | 14.3% |
| Gold Beau | 5 | 0 | 1 | 0% | 20.0% |
| Declared Innocent | 5 | 0 | 1 | 0% | 20.0% |
| Joyoh | 3 | 1 | 2 | 33.3% | 66.7% |
| Redrye | 3 | 0 | 2 | 0% | 66.7% |
| Space Academy | 3 | 1 | 1 | 33.3% | 33.3% |
The jockey picture is far more lopsided. Pike has ridden 180 times at Belmont for 64 winners, more than a third of those rides, and places six times in ten. Nobody else in today’s room is close.
| Jockey | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| W Pike | 180 | 64 | 108 | 35.6% | 60.0% |
| Chris Parnham | 117 | 20 | 53 | 17.1% | 45.3% |
| Lucy Fiore | 127 | 19 | 50 | 15.0% | 39.4% |
| C Johnston-Porter | 128 | 20 | 46 | 15.6% | 35.9% |
| Holly Nottle | 171 | 22 | 58 | 12.9% | 33.9% |
Among the trainers, a few smaller yards have strong place records here, and the bigger operations are steady rather than dominant.
| Trainer | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| D M Luciani | 12 | 2 | 9 | 16.7% | 75.0% |
| T M Andrews | 32 | 4 | 17 | 12.5% | 53.1% |
| MS J Erkelens | 26 | 6 | 13 | 23.1% | 50.0% |
| S & J Casey | 61 | 8 | 27 | 13.1% | 44.3% |
| Mitchell Pateman | 63 | 12 | 27 | 19.0% | 42.9% |
| Simon Miller | 96 | 14 | 31 | 14.6% | 32.3% |

Belmont Park race by race
Race 1: MC Equine Surfaces (Rs0ly), 1:29PM, 1000m
Juniper is unbeaten from two starts, and Pike stays aboard for the short sprint. Two runs, a win and a second over the last 90 days, and no sign yet of where the ceiling is. The weight is the one knock: 128.9kg, second only to Anaconda Jones, in a race restricted to three-year-olds. From barrier 3 Pike can take any spot, and over 1000m that usually means handy.
Anaconda Jones is the one with the most racing behind it. Its form reads 3-1-3-3, it ran third on its only Belmont visit, and it carries top weight as the most reliable runner here. Mystic Smile is worth a mention because trainer T M Andrews places more than half of the stable’s Belmont runners.
Win bet on Juniper, with Anaconda Jones the saver in the exacta.
Race 2: Morley Growers Market Mdn, 2:04PM, 1400m
Does anything in this maiden actually want to win? Thirteen runners, no course winners, and only two horses that have finished in the first three over the last 90 days more than once. Bourbonontherocks is one of them: a third and a second from two runs, both inside that window. Trainer Ms J Erkelens wins with almost a quarter of the stable’s Belmont runners and places half of them, which is a decent sign for a lightly raced type stepping up.
Diamond Choux is the danger on volume. Six runs in 90 days for two placings, and it placed on its only Belmont start. The problem is barrier 11 over 1400m. Wide draws in big maiden fields cost ground.
Small win bet on Bourbonontherocks. This is not a race to load up on.
Race 3: Wittens Irrigation & Design Mdn, 2:39PM, 1400m
Tex ‘N’ Cee has run three times for three seconds. Every one of those runs came in the last 90 days. S Parnham rides for N D Parnham, the trainer with more Belmont runners than anyone on the card. The stable’s strike rate here is modest, but the horse itself has not run a bad race.
Rocking In Vegas is the obvious threat and the horse that keeps this from being a stronger bet. Four placings from five starts in 90 days and in the frame on both Belmont visits, it just keeps finding one or two better. From barrier 4 under Taj Dyson it should get every chance.
Win on Tex ‘N’ Cee and a quinella with Rocking In Vegas. If you want a safer play, Rocking In Vegas each-way does the job too.
Race 4: Afgri Equipment Mdn, 3:17PM, 1200m
Hard to have a confident view. Three of the original field are already out (Talk Too Much, Bang On The Money and Playful Lady), and what is left is mostly exposed maidens or first-starters.
If forced, Lady Torque gets the nod on a form line of 2-3-7-3, the most consistent in the race, and Lucy Fiore rides. Fiore wins 15% of Belmont rides and places with nearly four in ten. Lacey Marie is the one with recent racing, placed once from two runs in 90 days for Chris Johnston-Porter.
Watch race. A small saver on Lady Torque at most.
Race 5: Quayclean Hcp (C1), 3:55PM, 1200m
Two horses, two very different profiles. Secret Planet won its only start and now gets Pike in a C1 handicap, which is a natural next step for a last-start winner. Unimando has had more racing and keeps showing up: a win and a second from its two runs in the last 90 days and a placing on its only Belmont start.
The worry with Secret Planet is the stable. J N Pateman has saddled nine Belmont runners and not one has finished in the first three. That is a small sample, but it is the one doubt on a horse that will be popular purely on the jockey booking. Joyoh is the course form runner in the race, a win and two placings from three Belmont starts. Barron Bill is drawn wide in 12 under 132.2kg, which is a lot to give away.
Small win bet on Secret Planet, and Joyoh each-way at the price.
Race 6: Choices By Dallimores Hcp (C1), 4:30PM, 1400m
Cassandra is the most solid horse on this part of the card. Two runs in the last 90 days for a win and a second, and in the first three on its only Belmont start. Pike rides at 123.4kg, and barrier 4 gives the choice of a forward spot or a run behind the speed.
Beaumont Miss is the danger. A win from three runs in 90 days and only 119kg from barrier 1. Redrye has placed twice from three Belmont starts and keeps racing well here without winning. Super Sentai is the other one to respect, from the S & J Casey stable that places with 44% of its Belmont runners.
Win bet on Cassandra, and a good one to put in any multi.
Race 7: Unite Resourcing Hcp (C3), 5:05PM, 1600m
The market problem here is how to separate two genuine Belmont horses. Vampi Queen has won both its starts at the track. Grandad’s Adiction has been here seven times for two wins and three placings, which counts as real course form.
Vampi Queen gets the vote. Over the last 90 days it has won twice from four runs, collected over $32,000, and placed in three of the four. Holly Nottle rides for D & B Pearce, a stable that has sent out 109 Belmont runners, and the weight is 125.6kg from barrier 8 over a mile, which gives Nottle time to find cover early.
Grandad’s Adiction is the real danger and probably the most consistent horse on the whole card: eight runs in 90 days, two wins and four placings, and over $47,000 in prize money in that time. What holds it back is the booking. Joey Azzopardi has one winner from 68 Belmont rides, and the Azzopardi and S L Miller combination has teamed up once at Belmont, for a ninth. Neap Tide carries top weight and gets Pike, so it will attract money, but its only run in the last 90 days was a sixth.
Win bet on Vampi Queen, with Grandad’s Adiction in the exacta both ways. This is the best betting race on the card.
Race 8: Bisley Workwear (Bm54+), 5:42PM, 2100m
A big field over 2100m and one horse with a winning edge. Olden has two wins from five runs in the last 90 days, more than anything else in the race, though it has been to Belmont three times without placing. Steven Parnham rides from barrier 2, a good draw for a staying race.
Barney Rommel is the each-way angle. Three placings from five recent runs, and it gets in with 119kg. Mystacheeno is the third option, a win and two placings from six runs in that window. Admired has Belmont experience, one win from seven, but has placed only once here.
Small win on Olden, Barney Rommel each-way.

Where the money goes
NAP: Vampi Queen (Race 7, 5:05PM). Two from two at Belmont and two wins from four runs in 90 days. It is the only horse on the card with a perfect course record across more than one start.
Value: Joyoh (Race 5, 3:55PM). Attention in this race will go to Pike’s mount, which leaves room on a horse that has won and placed twice from three Belmont starts.
Banker: Cassandra (Race 6, 4:30PM). Placed in every start, a win among them, and Pike aboard. The leg to build multis around.
Each-way: Rocking In Vegas (Race 3, 2:39PM). Four placings from five recent runs and two from two at Belmont. Hard to see it out of the first three.
Course angle: W Pike. 64 winners from 180 Belmont rides, and today the rides are Juniper, Secret Planet, Cassandra and Neap Tide. Three of those come from a stable with no Belmont placings from nine runners, so the jockey is doing the heavy lifting.
The quaddie runs Races 5 to 8. Cassandra and Vampi Queen are the two legs to narrow down; spread in Race 5 and Race 8.
If Vampi Queen makes it three from three here, the Pearce stable will have a Belmont galloper worth following all summer.
