BEST BET 🏆

Race 5:  No.2  HULM

The Ross Purcell-trained HULM is second-up today and looks the one to beat here. Last start, the Zoustar gelding transferred across from the Team Snowden camp and had his first start for Purcell where he broke through for his Maiden win on fresh legs. After 18 months on the sidelines, the four-year-old led from barrier to box and although tiring over the final stages, hung on to take home the major prize. Jason Lyon was the pilot that day and steers the ship again in the contest. Fitter for that first-up run, he gets the gun-run here from gate one and maps to lead them again on settling. If he is allowed to dictate terms here, they might struggle to run him down.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4:  No.3  TIZSO FAB

Locally-trained by Donna Scott, TIZSO FAB has had three starts for this stable and improving each time, now looks ready to win. Last start, the Astern gelding stepped-up to the plate and beat all but one home in a BM58, here over 1500m with Nick Heywood on board for the first time. Spotting the leader six lengths on the turn, he ran home strongly to finish less than a length from victory that day. Heywood sticks with him here and at his peak today, he can get the job done in this contest.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6:  No.4  FUTURE FUND

Maddison Collins makes the 90-minute trip from Wagga today and saddles-up FUTURE FUND here who is three starts into this campaign and looks a real threat to this field. Last start, the Flying Artie gelding came off his maiden win and faced a Class 1 contest on his home track where he finished just behind the placegetters, taking home fourth prize in the 1200m event. Josh Richards has been on board on three occasions since the three-year-old arrived from the Price & Kent stables and sticks with him for this assignment. This looks a little easier and from gate three, he maps to settle better than mid-field with cover. Fourth-up and at his peak today, he should give us a bold sight for our hard earned here.
