Ascot Tips 1/11/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 6 No. 3 HIGHEST AWARD – ($4.65)

Gingin trainer Meryl Hayley saddles HIGHEST AWARD while coming off a recent training double here at Ascot Racecourse. Highest Award found a nice spot behind the speed over 1300m at Northam before finding himself back to near last on straightening. Brandon Louis worked his way clear soon after with Highest Award getting home for second with the race all but over. Highest Award again took some time to wind up here last week over 1400m as the winner Wango Award sprinted sharply back towards the inside. Highest Award was hitting the line strongly and can make her presence felt late again on Wednesday.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2 No. 7 IDENTIFIER – ($3.65)

Lark Hill trainer Darren McAuliffe is getting closer to a win with IDENTIFIER who found one too strong last out in Weeraechoux. Joseph Azzopardi allowed his mount to find her feet early before building into the race on the turn. The winner followed the pair into the run to run away with it. Identifier raced past the others to run second in what we believe will turn out to be a good form race. She was racing off a slight let-up that day and can improve off the run.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4 No. 3 DARK LOOKS – ($7.50)

We wrote down the name DARK LOOKS following a recent review of the card from Northam Racecourse and were kicking ourselves for not making Dark Looks a selection last start. He travelled well behind the winner Lova Session in that maiden with that mare holding her to the line. Paddy Carbery then had Dark Looks settling beautifully under him in an off pace/midfield position over this track and trip. They moved into the race on the turn to put paid to their rivals into the straight to go on and take out the maiden. Lova Session has since run another gutsy race when overhauled late at Bunbury. These two horses look to be the main dangers to Decoration who will go off as a strong favourite for the race at Ascot on Wednesday. Market openings suggest we’ll get an each-way quote about Dark Looks and we’ll back Carbery to give her a run into the race once again.
