BEST BET 🏆

Race 2 No. 13 HEMSEY LADY ($6.40)

Trainer David Jolly sent a green HEMSEY LADY around at Balaklava first-up over 1050 metres. Hemsey Lady was tardy into stride with Sophie Logan allowing the big filly to find her stride before hunting into a position along the rails. Hemsey Lady has had a few gear changes to give punters clues as to her racing manners in the past. She proved difficult to ride into the straight while also not finding a great deal of room. There’s ability at some level there with Hemsey Lady who finished just behind the placegetters. Can improve with experience and maybe over slightly longer.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4 No. 2 HERE COMES LENNI ($4.25)

Trainer Stephen Theodore reaches for the Rochelle factor in a bid to see HERE COMES LENNI finally break through. The win will be richly deserved for Theodore who has prepared Here Comes Lenni to be competitive in both city and provincial class. He hasn’t won a race in a long while and Milnes can give him an absolute treat from their inside gate. He’s been a hard horse to place due to his consistency of just being around the mark and holding that handicap rating. Finds the right race here and we’ll all be hoping the stars have aligned for Here Comes Lenni at Bordertown Racecourse on Sunday.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6 No. 8 SAND CAT ($12)

Hot in-form rider Anna Jordjso keeps the ride on SAND CAT and this time the pair can start from a handy gate. The pair were given little chance after drawing the car park at Gawler last start where Sand Cat raced wide on the speed. This set the race up for the back markers and Sand Cat ran her usual honest self to continue on into the placings. Trainer Emma Hubbard did bring Sand Cat to Bordertown Racecourse for the start prior. Her mare was racing first-up following a short let-up and became shuffled back to an awkward position as the pressure came into the race. Sand Cat finished gamely for fourth and now finds an easier assignment on Sunday.
