Race 6 No. 10 EUPHRATES DREAM ($5.50)

Damien Thorton will be needing some luck from a horrible gate for EUPHRATES DREAM who is getting out to 1200 metres for the first time on Sunday. The horse has made his way over to the Gold Coast stables of Adam Campton in search of something easier. He will still have some residual fitness following his recent second placing for previous mentor Matthew Smith. Euphrates Dream found a box-seat position over the 1100 metres before setting out after Oceans One who opened a break into the straight. Euphrates Dream was strong through the line in running second while spacing the others. There is speed to his inside here and Euphrates Dream could be the Johnny-on-the-spot horse.

Race 2 No. 1 EIGHT CYLINDERS ($4.40)

Trevor Miller steps EIGHT CYLINDERS out to the mile fourth-up at the Sunshine Coast Racecourse on Sunday. Mathew Powel urged the horse to cross and lead from an outside alley last start. Eight Cylinders had them all off the bit and chasing over 1400 metres  as he gave them the slip on straightening. Did seem to peak a little near the 100m mark before grinding on solidly. Eight Cylinders found the first starter in Simply Refuse a little too strong while holding on for second. Powell has the luxury of an inside draw above Eight Cylinders on Sunday and the pair should roll forward again.

Race 5 No. 2 AZURE PRIDE ($8.50)

Eagle Farm trainer Robert Heathcote has AZURE PRIDE racing first-up at the Sunshine Coast Racecourse on Sunday. She’s the type that usually takes a few runs to find her best and prefers slightly further. There did not appear to be a lot of pace on paper though, and Azure Pride may be able to pinch this race early into her prep. Wasn’t asked of anything when ridden cold in a recent trial at Doomben. We don’t mind that sort of trial for a horse such as Azure Pride who is being kept fresh by Heathcote for her first-up run on Sunday.
