Clare Tips 8/04/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 4 No. 6 MAGIC DELTA – ($3.60)

Patience won out for Morphettville trainer Paula Trenwith as MAGIC DELTA kept going to score last start. That was over this track and distance as Stacey Metcalfe allowed the mare to use her natural gate speed. There wasn’t a lot of other pace on paper in the race which allowed Magic Delta to cross unchallenged. Stacey slipped her some more rein up the hill prior to the 400m, with the mare getting her opposition off the bit and chasing. They cornered a little over a length for home with Metcalfe calling on Magic Delta to give them the slip. They opened a winning break on Magicourt and Effortkat to land that much needed breakthrough win. Trenwith returns to Clare for a race which finds Mgic Delta back in class again.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7 No. 2 HURRICANE SONNY – ($4.20)

Punters aren’t going to get too many more chances to purchase a ticket about the ever-green 12yo HURRICANE SONNY. David Page landed yet another win with Hurricane Sonny in a good race at Port Lincoln two starts back. Zoe Lloyd sat on the horse for the first time before opening a big break into the straight. Hurricane Sonny kept running strongly to the line to score in smart time over 1350m. Age restrictions mean We only have another three months in which to enjoy the racing career of this chestnut marvel. Will pay to forgive last start at Balranald and back him in again on one of his more favoured racing surfaces.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 3 No. 12 RED WRAITH – ($10)

The smaller track should play into the hands of RED WRAITH as Murray Bridge horseman Matt Seyers ventures to the mid-north. Clare can be a bit tricky with its constant tight turns and uphill run leading into a short straight. Red Wraith showed gate speed before coming back underneath the rider on debut in town. Cornered beautifully on straightening while being outmatched by the city-class horses into the run home. Since showed similar speed out of the machines in two jump outs leading to a resumption at Murray Bridge. Red Wraith remained amongst the chances deep into the straight and will strip fitter for the run.
