BEST BET 🏆
Race 7: No.5 MELODY AGAIN ($1.90 with Palmerbet)
The Scott Singleton-trained MELODY AGAIN makes her second appearance on a race track today and after a successful return to work, should take beating here. Last start, the Your Song filly made her racing debut in style when she clobbered her rivals in a Scone Maiden Plate over 1200m. Slowly away that day, she settled third-last (of 11), spotting the leader eight lengths. On the turn, she was the widest runner, still six lengths off them, but in the run home, she showed an impressive turn-of-foot and swamped them, going on to win by almost three lengths on the line. Today, Rachael Murray has the reins with the filly drawn to do no early work from gate two. She resumes here after 16-weeks in the paddock and with plenty of upside about her, she looks the one you want to be on today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 8: No.1 THE HUNGARIAN ($2.40 with bet365)
Paul Messara saddles-up THE HUNGARIAN here who has two wins from five starts this preparation and dropping significantly in class here looks the testing material in this contest. Last start, the Snitzel gelding took on the first graders at Randwick and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fifth (of 14) in a Class 3 Highway Hcp over 1800m. Jockey Tom Marquand ran into dead ends virtually all the way home but once clear, the four-year-old hit the line well, taking ground off those in front of him. A free run home that day and he is threatening victory that day. Aaron Bullock, who holds a 40% success rate with the Messara stable, has the job today and boasts two previous rides for a win and a runner-up finish. He has some weight to carry today but gets the gun-run from gate one and already a track and distance winner here, should prove hard to hold out from that draw.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 3: No.11 ALL I HAVE ($7 with Ladbrokes)
The locally-trained ALL I HAVE sports winkers for the first time today which just might make enough difference to see him finally shake the maiden monkey off his back in this contest. Last start, the Stratum Star gelding had Grant Buckley aboard when he finished just behind the placegetters in a Mudgee Class 1/Maiden Plate over 1600m. That was his fifth-straight run over the mile with trained Brett Robb possibly setting him up for this longer journey today. Clay Gallagher jumps on board here after two previous rides where both resulted in podium finishes. He is drawn wide today but the further distance should see him cross and settle near mid-field without any major dramas. Rock-hard fit after six starts this time in, this could be his day to bring up a home-track win at odds.
