Kembla Grange galloper ALLEBASI is having start number four today and looks well placed to break through in this contest. Last start, the Merchant Navy gelding put in his best performance yet when he beat all but one home in a 1400m Maiden Plate on his home track. Jay Ford takes the reins for the first time today and the stable are fitting the tongue tie for the first time as well. From gate six, he maps to settle in the first half dozen and fitter for those three runs to date, should take plenty of beating here.

Race 3:  No.2  DE POET  ($4.45 with BoomBet)

Warwick Farm visitor DE POET is first-up today and on fresh legs looks a genuine contender in this contest. Last start, the Denman gelding ended his last campaign with a win in a Class 1 Hcp at Nowra over the 1200m trip. He’s had a four-month break since then but is already a winner when resuming and has Tom Sherry in the saddle today. With a trouble-free run in the small field, he looks set for a first-up win today.

Race 7:  No.3  ALLGEMEINE  ($3.30 with Ladbrokes)

With almost half the field scratched here, there’s value to be had with ALLGEMEINE who drops sharply in grade today and returning to the country scene, looks a sound investment in this contest. Last start, the Maurice mare took on a Hwy Class 3 Hcp over 1500m at Rosehill where she finished better than mid-field in the 14-strong line-up. Prior to that, she finished third of 13 against similar company over 1400m at Randwick. She is now well seasoned after five starts this preparation and has the come-back girl (Beany Panya) in the saddle for today’s assignment. In the small field here, she looks a solid winning chance.
