BEST BET 🏆

Race 7:  No.6  BOSS SHELBY  ($2.60 with bet365

Cessnock galloper BOSS SHELBY is third-up today and looks ready to give his best here. Last start, the Street Boss gelding put in a much improved performance when he beat all but one home in a BM58 Hcp over 1100m at Scone. Railing like a greyhound, he came from second-last on the turn to hit the front inside the final 200m but was nosed-out on the line by the equal favourite (Jet Pack). Aaron Bullock was aboard that day and has the reins again for this contest. Better drawn in gate four today, he will strip fitter for those two fresh runs and looks the one to beat here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No.9  SKYFORGER  ($2.30 with TAB)

The (now) Moree-based SKYFORGER is having his second start for the John Bourke stable and indications are he is right in this contest today. Formerly with the Team Freedman stables at Mornington, the Deep Field gelding was impressive at his first start for the new stable when he beat all but one home in a 1400m Maiden at Inverell. In his first attempt at clockwise racing, he hung out in the run home but with 59kgs on his back, still managed to finish within half a length of victory that day. Glenn Innes rider, Jodi Worley was aboard that day and retains the ride for today’s contest. He maps to settle just off the speed from gate two and with that run behind him now, he should be there fighting out the finish again.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 1:  No.5  SO EXTRA  ($4.60 with Palmerbet)

The Clint Lundholm-trained SO EXTRA is high-flying this time in and looks well placed here for her fourth-straight podium finish today. Last start, the Xtravagant mare was nosed-out of second prize in a 900m sprint at Coonabarabran. The pace was on from the start that day and she had to settle for third prize. She faces similar company here (over the same distance) with Ben Looker having his first ride on the mare. She sees the Gunnedah track for the first time today and from gate six, maps to settle just behind the pace (with cover). A trouble-free run here should see her laying down the gauntlet in the final 200m and challenging strongly for the major prize today.
