BEST BET 🏆

Race 2 No. 1 THE PENSKE FILE – ($2.80)

Bordertown master Jeff Searle managed to spin the form of THE PENSKE FILE around at Naracoorte last time. Finished a long way back on debut at home when taken back from the draw to make no impression into the straight. Jockey Dom Tourneur showed us what The Penske File is capable of following his positive ride from an inside gate over 1430 metres at Naracoorte. He box-seated behind the speed before pulling out prior to straightening to chase the hot odds-on commodity Private Jet. The pair nearly caused a massive upset as The Penske File and Private Jet went toe to toe to the line with the latter prevailing. The Penske File left a big space back to the third horse in an impressive display.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3 No. 10 ZARATSU – ($4)

Dom Tourneur can make it race-to-race wins in a productive day when he gets out onto the track with ZARATSU. We’re confident that he has most of these covered despite the wide draw as there seems to be enough pace to spread the field out early. Think Dom can keep working across into a handy position probably one-off to somewhere near the speed. Zaratsu has been well tried in the past, mostly off his run behind Decibelles over a mile at Morphettville. That race was run at a high pace with Zaratsu proving that he can handle the heat when getting beaten in a close photo while gapping the rest. Spanked them last time at Strath when breaking his maiden over the same thanks to ride of the day from Dom. Appears well placed by Gawler horseman Brett Campbell and Zaratsu can go on with it here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 1 No. 4 TEXTA DEXTA – ($9)

The improving John Hickmott & Carrina Riggs trained TEXTA DEXTA struck a strong maiden where they showed pace at Bordertown. He was out well over the 1100 metres that day for Jeff Maund and sat in behind the hot speed set by All Clubs. Texta Dexta kept coming to the line as the first four horses came away from the others. All Clubs proved too good before coming out and winning her next start at Oakbank by 6.5 Lengths. Maund remained hard at work on Texta Dexta with the horse responding at his next start in a harder race at Strathalbyn over 1200m. Gets the blinkers on for Penola and will likely follow some susceptible speed while denying the rest with his race-fitness.
