BEST BET 🏆
Race 8: No.1 JOYFUL HUNTER ($1.60 with Palmerbet)
Francis Lui saddles-up JOYFUL HUNTER here who lines-up in his second career starts and looks the goods for back-to-back victories here. Last start, the Darci Brahma gelding was on debut and made an impressive start to his career when he clobbered his opposition in a Class 4 Hcp, here over 1200m. With Vince Ho in the saddle, he ran the trip in a handy 1:09.8 as he put two lengths on them across the line. He carries more weight tonight but meets similar company with Ho retaining the ride. A repeat of that last start effort here will see him hard to beat again.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 9: No.6 REWARD SMILE ($2.40 with Bet Right)
The John Size-trained REWARD SMILE hasn’t missed a top-two finish in four starts this time in and looks ideally placed here to keep that trend going tonight. Last start, the British-bred gelding made it a hat-trick of runner-up finishes when he beat all but one home in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1200m. Zac Purton was in the saddle that night and from gate 10, had to put in overtime early to cross and find a sit, eventually settling mid-field, one off the fence. He ran home strongly but gave the winner too much start, taking home second prize in the end. Much better drawn tonight in gate, he does no early work from gate two and rock-hard fit from four starts back, he looks a genuine winning chance here.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 4: No.4 MANAGEMENT FOLKS ($3.90 with Ladbrokes)
The David Hall-trained MANAGEMENT FOLKS is in great touch this time in and third-up tonight looks a genuine winning chance in this contest. Last start, the Mastercraftsman gelding was second-up when he recorded his fourth-straight podium finish by taking out a Class 4 Hcp, here over the 1800m trip with Zac Purton aboard. He carries 3kgs more tonight but is meeting similar company over the same distance. Both career wins have been on the Happy Valley track and Purton sticks with him here. He had that last race won a long way from home and looks every chance of back-to-back wins tonight.
