Race 5:  No.1  GOSSIP TORQUE  ($4.85 with BoomBet)

The Billy Healey-trained GOSSIP TORQUE is first-up today and boasting a strong fresh record, will take beating here. Last start, the Capitalist filly ended her last campaign on a high when she led from barrier to box in a BM62 Hcp, here over the 800m sprint. She was then spelled and since then, has trialled at the Sunshine Coast, finishing second with Cejay Graham in the saddle. Graham sticks with the filly here, having her first ‘race’ ride on the three-year-old. Her resume shows she is unbeaten at the track and distance and is three from three over the 800m trip. There’s plenty to like about her chances here and if she can settle early, another first-up victory is on the cards.

Race 6:  No.5  GOLDEELUCK  ($3.90 with Neds)

The Team Sears-trained GOLDEELUCK is third-up today and looking to go one better here. Last start, the Winning Rupert gelding was second-up on his home track (Toowoomba) when he flew home, only to arrive one stride too late, having to settle for second prize in a BM60 Hcp over 1200m. His strong finish has encouraged the stable to try him over the mile here for the first time. He is expected to settle back in the field from gate seven and is joined by Andrew Mallyon for the first time. Fitter for two runs back, he looks more than capable of taking this out.

Race 4:  No.2  GRINZINGER KNIGHT  ($4.50 with Ladbrokes)

The Toowoomba-based GRINZINGER KNIGHT has been in consistent form of late and in the conditions here, looks a genuine winning chance today. Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding came off a big win in BM65 company at Gatton when he took on city-based gallopers at Doomben and finished just behind the placegetters in similar company over 2030m. He is a winner here and has Emily Lang returning for today’s assignment, after steering his to that 2.5 length win at Gatton two starts back. Ideally drawn in gate two, he maps to lead them on settling and if he is left to dictate terms for the race, he may prove too hard to run down today.
