Kyneton Tips 4/4/2023

BEST BET 🏆 (WIN)

Race 7 No. 5 MAGICAL SLIPPER- ($2.50)

MAGICAL SLIPPER looks to be the one in Race 7. The Phillip Stokes-trained filly has had two runs for a win on debut at Pakenham last year before stepping out at Mornington on March 21 and finishing 4th behind Rusheen over the 1000m. She was a $1.75 favourite that day but was slowly away and held up in the straight before finishing less than a length away. She went 0.8 lengths slower than standard, which is seven lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. Suspect she will improve off that, while she should enjoy the gun run from barrier 4.

NEXT BEST 🥈 (WIN)

Race 6 No.3 SEEKING GLORY- ($5)

SEEKING GLORY should be hard to beat in Race 6. The Maher/Eustace galloper drops down from a BenchMark 70 and was ok from back in the field at her most recent start when 4th behind Fancylanski over the 1400m at Sandown, beaten just under four lengths. This looks easier and her last win came in this grade by two lengths at Geelong last year.

BEST VALUE 💰(EACH-WAY)

Race 1 No. 7 BROOKLYN BABY – ($8)

BROOKLYN BABY can open up the day for us with a win. The locally trained galloper has had two runs this time in and was solid over the 1112m here on March 16, finishing 4th behind Frose. The runner-up out of that has since gone on to win and she was wide early on before working home well to finish a length away. The daughter of Squamosa went four lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner and the second best that any runner in this race has produced. Step up to the 1200m should suit and with any improvement third up she can get the job done.
