BEST BET 🏆
Race 5: No.4 TOBA ($4 with bet365)
Trained at Toowoomba by Rex Lipp, TOBA is no stranger here and second-up today should prove bard to beat. Last start, the Headwater gelding was fresh off a 15-week spell when he wasn’t disgraced, finishing third in a BM62 Hcp over 1100m at Warwick. He settled last of the eight runners that day but made up good ground in the run home with Georgina Cartwright in the saddle. He covered his last 600m, 2.4 lengths quicker than benchmark, the second-best effort here behind Murrajong Road who is first-up and making his track debut today. Cartwright sticks with the three-year-old here and already a track and distance winner, he will give this a real shake today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No.5 MARCADA ($3.40 with Palmerbet)
Toowoomba galloper MARCADA is in career-best form this time in and looks the pick of the crop in this contest. Last start, the Unencumbered mare brought up career-win number eight when she clobbered them in a BM62 Hcp, here over 1400m. She ran her last 600m, 1.7 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. Luke Tarrant has his first ride on the mare that day and has the job again today. She is six starts into this campaign and has found the podium on five occasions, including two impressive wins. Already a two-time winner at the track and distance, she looks a genuine player in this field.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 2: No.4 GLOBAL VENTURE ($7 with bet365)
The Jason Devine-trained GLOBAL VENTURE is second-up today and makes his Dalby debut boasting some very good recent form. Last start, the Whittington gelding was fresh off a lengthy nine-month absence when he beat all but one home in a BM55 Hcp over the 800m sprint at Thangool. That was a big effort first-up, while carrying the grandstand with 63kgs on his back. He enjoys the short sprint races with his resume showing 12 starts at the trip, resulting in three wins and four minor placings. Les Tilley is aboard today, having steered the six-year-old to three podium finishes from four previous rides. Ideally drawn in gate three, he maps to settle in the first half dozen and fitter for one run back, should prove a worthy contender at odds today.
