BEST BET 🏆

Race 7:  No.3  BETCHA THE CROWN  ($3.10 with Neds

Desleigh Forster and Damien Thornton combine again here with BETCHA THE CROWN who lines-up as our best of the day. Last start, the Casino Prince gelding came off his maiden win at Doomben when second-up, he took on the Group 3 Gunsynd Classic over the mile at Eagle Farm. That ‘mountain’ proved a little too big to climb with just one run under his belt this time in, finishing last of the nine runners. This contest is a big drop in class as he returns to the country scene. The stable fit a tongue tie for the first time today and fitter for two runs back, he should take beating in this company.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5:  No.6  TRES REDOUTE  ($4 with Ladbrokes)

Desleigh Forster makes the trip south of the border today where she saddles-up TRES REDOUTE here who resumes from a 23-week break and boasting a strong fresh record, looks a serious player in this contest. Last start, the Dissident filly put in an ordinary effort at Ipswich, finishing fifth in BM58 company. That saw Forster put her out for five months before she resumed work three weeks ago where she trialled at Deagon (finishing fourth in that run). Damien Thornton has the job today and from gate two, maps to be just behind the speed on settling. The blinkers come off for the first time here and with a clear crack at them in the run home, she should prove hard to hold out.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 1:  No.4  OLYMPIC CLASS  ($4.40 with Picklebet)

Gold Coast galloper OLYMPIC CLASS sees the Lismore track for the first time today and three starts into this preparation, he looks a genuine contender for the major prize here. Last start, the Olympic Glory gelding was third-up and showed plenty of improvement when he finished a close-up third in the Grafton Cup Preview over 2020m at Murwillumbah. That effort puts him in good stead for this contest. Anthony Allen has been with him for every start this time in and remains aboard for this assignment. He gets all the favours from gate one and should be rock-hard fit with those three runs under his belt. He looks right in the mix here.
