BEST BET 🏆
Race 5: No.1 PANUARA BOY ($5.50 with Ladbrokes)
Glen Innes galloper, PANUARA BOY, has four podium finishes from his six starts this preparation and looks right in this contest. Last start, the five-year-old came off a disappointing effort at Coffs Harbour and finished third in a BM60 over 1050m on the synthetic track at the Gold Coast. He sees the Lismore track for the first time today where he is drawn ideally in gate two and welcomes a 2kg claim as well. He maps to settle just behind the speed today and with a trouble-free run here, he has claims to suggest he will be there at the finish.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6: No.15 FENTON ($8.50 with Bet Right)
After early scratchings, Gold Coast galloper FENTON gets a run here and third-up today looks a genuine winning chance in this contest. Last start, the Capitalist gelding showed plenty of improvement when he came off an unplaced run on his home track and broke through for his Maiden win over 1200m at Ipswich. He sat in the one, one then came off heels and put in a great turn of speed in the closing stages to win impressively. Ironically, he was an emergency that day as well, gaining a start after scratchings. Andrew Mallyon has the reins today and a repeat of that last effort sees him in with a big chance here at odds.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 3: No.6 WONDERLAND STAR ($9 with Palmerbet)
The Matt Dunn-trained WONDERLAND STAR is third-up today and looks in the mix for back-to-back victories in this contest. Last start, the Brave Smash filly was second-up and showed a huge improvement (off her first-up last place effort at Grafton) when she broke through for her Maiden win over 1300m at Ballina. Settling worse than mid-field and three-deep without cover, she grew another leg in the run home and passed all before her to go on and win as an $80 chance. She draws much better ion gate three today and after Zac Wadick’s claim, carries 2.5kgs less than that last-start win. Based on that effort, she should be up to Class 1 company and looks well worth an each-way ticket here.
