Race 6: No.5 EL ASTEROID ($4.20 with Neds)
The Annabel Neasham trained EL ASTEROID is third-up here and looks well placed to record his second career victory today. Last start, the El Roca gelding found the podium again when finishing third in a Class 1 Hcp over 1400m at Gatton. Jockey Michael Hellyer said after the race that the three-year-old may need the blinkers back on, and Neasham has taken notice by making that gear change here. Already a winner when third-up, he looks well drawn in gate five and has the claims to suggest he is a winning chance today. *(He is a dual acceptor today, also nominated for Kilcoy, Race 7, but we’re anticipating he will run here).

Race 2: No.4 OLYMPIC CLASS ($4.80 with Ladbrokes)
Gold Coast galloper OLYMPIC CLASS is third-up today and looks on track for a tilt at this year’s Cup, depending on how things turn out here today. Last start, the Olympic Glory gelding was second-up after an absence of almost a year when he finished unplaced in a in a Class 6 Hcp over the mile in a strong field at Doomben. He managed to run his last 600m, 7 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here. Returning to country racing today, Anthony Allen sticks with him today and fitter for two runs back, he can give this a real shake.

Race 4: No.7 INTENTIONAL LASS ($7.50 with Picklebet)
Local trainer Matt Dunn saddles-up a third of the field here with four stable representatives as we are running with INTERNATIONAL LASS in her bid for back-to-back wins today. Last start, the Pierro filly was fresh off a 20-week break when having her second race start and she got the job done, taking out a Maiden Plate, here over 1200m. From gate seven, Andrew Mallyon drove her to the lead on settling and from there she went on to win by 1.5 lengths on the line, on a Heavy 9 that day. On top of the ground today, she draws ideally in gate two and maps to lead again. Mallyon sticks with her and she looks the one to catch.
