BEST BET 🏆
Race 1 No. 3 NASEEB – ($3.40)
Teagan Voorham can control the opener at Bordertown Racecourse on Sunday by stalking the leader on NASEEB. We are expecting to see Costa Margo to take up the front running with little pressure coming from elsewhere. We’ll throw back to the win of Naseeb over this track and trip a few starts back. Teagan was able to watch the race unfold through the middle stages before bringing Naseeb with his run prior to straightening. The pair went on to effectively outstay a small field where the pressure did build early. This is more likely to turn into a tactical sit/sprint affair and Naseeb will need to settle much closer. Voorham can get rolling early enough to ensure top weight Melissa Kate is made to carry her 60 kgs. Of the other dangers, Costa Margo will stick on while Impulse Diavolo possesses the dominant turn-of-foot.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7 No. 5 CANIDAE – ($3.20)
Track specialist at Bordertown Racecourse CANIDAE caught the eye when resuming in Gawler. The run of Canidae in isolation to the rest showed a horse who is ready to win again soon. Caitlin Jones allowed him to lob out the back before finding her path blocked into the straight. The pair made good ground on the other’s while weaving a path to finish behind the placegetters. John Hickmott & Carrina Riggs found a restricted benchmark 54 for Canidae here the start following. Sam Payne gave him the run of the race to score as out Best Bet for the day. The pair couldn’t quite make it two straight wins when going down narrowly at Strathalbyn last start. Canidae looks well placed here again and Jacob Opperman can give him the run of the race from an ideal draw.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5 No. 3 DROMEAS – ($13)
Scott Whittle took the 3 kilo claim from Caitlin Tootell who gave DROMEAS a nice enough ride here last month. Tootell settled around midfield and one-off the fence as the pace went into the race. She brought Dromeas with his run into the straight to just miss the placings in a race with more depth than this. The pair were subsequently forced to cover extra ground when dropping out from the turn at Strathalbyn. Perhaps didn’t handle the heavy track at Horsham last start and should find a better surface here. Ryan Hurdle sticks from last start and can give Dromeas every chance again from the draw.
