Trained at Dubbo by Brett Robb, SIMPLY XTRAVAGANT is in great touch this time in and third-up today, looks a serious player in this contest. Last start, the Xtravagant mare beat them home in a Class 1 Hcp over 1300m on her home track. She did it tough that day, having to use up plenty of fuel to cross from gate 10 (of 14) and take up the front running. She then had 400m of home straight in front of her where she held them all at bay to hang on and win by half a length on the line. Clay Gallagher takes the reins today where the four-year-old draws much better in gate two and maps to settle near the speed. She has revelled under Robb since transferring from the Tony McEvoy camp and looks in the mix again today.

Race 3: No.12 PLATINUM ASSET ($4.80 with Picklebet)
Hawkesbury galloper PLATINUM ASSET is now four starts into this preparation and should be ready to shine today. Last start, the Spieth mare box-seated on settling and took ground off the leading pair in the run home to finish second in the 1600m event at Queanbeyan, beaten just half a length on the line. Grant Buckley is the pilot for this assignment and from gate four, the four-year-old looks every chance of box-seating again. At her peak today and under set weights conditions, she can throw down a serious challenge in this contest.

Cowra-based galloper, YOUNG HEART, has found his mojo of late and looks well placed to carry on with his good form today. Last start, the Moshe gelding came off a Dubbo win when he came from behind to grab third prize in a BM58 Hcp over 1100m at Bathurst. Mathew Cahill returns for today’s assignment (after steering him to that Dubbo victory) and has done well to draw gate two for this event. He maps to settle near mid-field and with a clear run to the line, he can make it four-straight podium finishes today at odds.
