BEST BET 🏆

Race 5:  No.5  DAGON

Ciaron Maher makes the long trip west today and saddles-up DAGON here who is third-up and looks set to give this contest a real shake. Last start, the well-bred I Am Invincible gelding came off a first-up maiden win at Newcastle when he finished a close-up fourth in a BM64 Hcp over 1000m at Wyong. Ash Morgan was aboard for both rides and sticks firm with the gelding here. He sees the Orange track for the first time today where he draws well in gate six and maps to settle behind a real charge up front with plenty of early speed here. If he can secure clear passage to the ljne, he may prove hard to hold out today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3:  No.9  ALL SO EASY

The Canberra-based ALL SO EASY makes her Orange debut today and looks well placed for back-to-back wins today. Last start, the All Too Hard mare was third-up when she found her mojo and finished too strong for them, taking out a Class 1 over the mile at the Sapphire Coast. Michael Heagney was aboard for the first time and is sticking with the mare today. At her peak after three runs back, she maps to settle just behind the speed and with a trouble-free run here, a track-debut victory is on the cards at good odds today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4:  No.4  KIMONO

Gary Portelli saddles-up KIMONO here who has found some form of late and looks well placed here to go on with it at good odds today. Race tactics were changed with the Press Statement filly two starts back with Beany Panya taking over as pilot. For the first time, they tried settling her as the pace-maker and it paid off with the three-year-old leading all the way to win her Maiden, here over 1410m where she put two lengths on them over the line. Last start, similar tactics were applied and she beat all but home as she stepped up to Class 2 company at Canberra. She drops back in grade today and has Panya remaining aboard for this assignment. Ideally drawn in gate two, she can dominate here again and get the job done at (currently) double-figure odds today.
