BEST BET 🏆
Race 4: No.8 YET HE MOVES ($3.50 with Picklebet)
The Chris Waller-trained YET HE MOVES is in good form this preparation and looks well placed here to make his presence felt in this contest. Last start, the Adelaide gelding brought up his fourth top-three finish five starts when took home third prize in a BM64 Hcp, here over this trip. Settling mid-field, he was blocked for a run until the gap came inside the final 200m but the momentum was gone, having no time to reel in the two ahead of him. He steps a little in grade today but has drawn well in gate three and has a new rider with Jason Collett taking over for this assignment. At his peak here after five starts back, he can give this a real shake today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6: No.8 ROCKETEER GIRL ($3.85 with BoomBet)
The Waterhouse & Bott stable saddle-up ROCKETEER GIRL in this contest who resumes after 10 months in the paddock but her recent trial form suggests she is all dressed up and ready to party today. Last start, the Smart Missile mare finished last in a BM72 Hcp at Canterbury where she pulled up lame after the race. He rehab seems to have worked well as her trial results suggest (winning the last two of them). Regan Bayliss remains aboard for today’s assignment and from gate four, she could settle in front here. A repeat of her latest trial efforts just might see her hard to run down today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5: No.4 WALKIN’TALKIN ($10 with bet365)
Gary Portelli saddles-up WALKIN’TALKIN here who is third-up today and his resume suggests he is well in the mix for victory in this contest. Last start, the I’m All The Talk gelding was second-up when he took on a tough BM78 field, here on the main track, and from gate 10 (of 11), didn’t have the best of runs, finishing unplaced, beaten just over three lengths on the line. Adam Hyeronimus returns for his fourth ride on the five-year-old who boasts a very strong third-up record, with a win and two runner-up finishes coming from five previous third-up efforts. He drops in grade today and draws much better in gate four for this race. He maps to settle just off the pace (possibly box-seating) and fitter for two runs back, looks a serious contender for that winner’s cheque.
