BEST BET 🏆   

Race 8 No. 1 LANG PARK- ($3.20) 

We close off with a BenchMark 64 over the 1300m and LANG PARK can go one spot better than a first up effort that saw him finish runner-up at Moonee Valley on December 15 over the 1200m. A winner of two of his three starts prior to that, the four-year-old settled handy before just going down late in the piece behind Joltin’ Joe. Those two put a gap on the rest. Second up last time he went from a 4th at Seymour on debut to a dominant win at Bairnsdale before scoring at Cranbourne. Improvement to come and the step to 1300m are further ticks. 

NEXT BEST 🥈   

Race 4 No. 7  SILVER WAVES-  ($3.55) 

This looks to be a suitable assignment for SILVER WAVES. The Maher/Eustace galloper won two of her first three starts and resumed from a spell with an unlucky 2nd at Werribee over the 1100m in a BenchMark 64 before tackling a BM70 at Caulfield over the 1100m on Boxing Day and running on to fill the minors behind Mrs Chrissie. This looks slightly easier and the four-year-old was a winner at his stage of her last preparation. John Allen rides. 

BEST VALUE 💰   

Race 7 No. 7 AWASH- ($6) 

AWASH can rejoin the winners list when he steps out in Race 7. Another from the Maher/Eustace camp, he won three on the trot earlier this preparation and drops in grade after a last start effort that saw him finish a narrow runner-up behind Flash Feeling over the 1600m at Moonee Valley on December 23. He was 3rd over the 1800m prior to that, going more than six lengths faster than standard benchmark and gets the blinkers for the first time in this race.
