Muswellbrook galloper GOLDEN BUTTON has returned in top-shelf form this time in and looks well placed here to go on with it today. Last start, the Dissident gelding was second-up when he easily accounted for a Class 1 field on a Heavy 8 at Tuncurry over 1400m. He drew the outside gate (14) that day, settling mid-field, then soon after straightening, took control and went on to win by more than a length on the line. Aaron Bullock was aboard for that run and sticks with the five-year-old for this assignment. Even fitter after those two runs, he should prove hard to hold out here today.

Race 4: No.3 SMOKIN’ CRAZY ($2.55 with BoomBet)

Local galloper, SMOKIN’ CRAZY, resumes off a six-month absence today and coming off a successful trial, looks in the mix in this contest. Last preparation, the Snitzel mare had just one start where she broke through for her maiden win at Newcastle on a Soft 6 over 1200m with Aaron Bullock aboard. She recently returned to work and finished second in a barrier trial on this track. Bullock was aboard for that trial and sticks with the mare for her return to racing today. The stable fit a lugging bit for her return and already a winner when first-up, she can give this a real shake today.

Race 3: No.4 WHAT A PEACH ($4.05 with BoomBet)

Locally-trained by Scott Singleton, WHAT A PEACH is third-up today and ticks enough boxes here to be considered a solid winning chance in this contest. Last start, the Your Song mare was second-up and not disgraced when finishing fourth in a BM68 over 1400m at Newcastle. She came from mid-field and carted wide on the turn to finish less than a length from the winner. She ran her final 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals all quicker than standard benchmark that day. Already a winner when third-up, she maps to settle near the speed from gate two and looks a real player here today.
