BEST BET 🏆

Race 2 No. 1 DARE TO BE FREE ($6.60)

Local trainer Bill Bogarts has been knocking on the door for a win with DARE TO BE FREE. The horse has a good fitness edge going into this race while having been placed at all four runs this prep. Latest placing came when Britney Wong settled him outside the leader Star Studded Belle at Murray Bridge. The pair took nearly all of the 1400 metres to eventually overhaul the inside horse before having Enciphering claim them on the line. Wednesday’s race at Strathalbyn racecourse appears to be a similar set-up with Star Studded Belle drawing an inside gate. Wong will likely work Dare To Be Free over from an ideal middle alley to be fighting amongst the finish once again.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4 No. 4 DIVINE BREW ($11)

Gawler trainer Stuart Gower found plenty of improvement out of DIVINE BREW when racing second-up last start. Divine Brew jumped well enough to push forward and lead early over the mile at Murray Bridge. Lachlan Neindorf didn’t seem to really want to be there and was happy to try and take a sit with a few others pushing up around him. Divine Brew hit the front again not long after straightening to box on gamely down to about the 150m. His run ended there with Divine Brew not finishing far off the winner Allusion. Jake Toeroek takes the ride from a good alley and Divine Brew is sure to have stripped fitter for the run.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5 No. 4 CHARTIN ($9.50)

The Gordon Richards & Damien Moyle team produced CHARTIN to perform in a gutsy win when racing on top of a strong tempo at Murray Bridge two runs back. He beat a solid benchmark 60 field that day and now finds himself back in grade on that field. The stable rolled the dice off such a strong run when sending him around in town last stat. Chartin perhaps found city class a bit too rich for him at this stage. There doesn’t appear to be huge pressure for him here and Kelsey Hannan should have some confidence in sending the horse forward once again. Hits it wins is how we’ll be looking at this.
