BEST BET 🏆
Race 7: No.3 BULLAWA CREEK ($3 with bet365)
Cody Morgan saddles-up BULLAWA CREEK here and second-up today, the local galloper should prove hard to hold out in this contest. Last start, the Dane Shadow gelding was fresh off a nine-week break when he finished fifth in a BM58, here over the 1000m sprint. Aaron Bullock was aboard that day and had him mid-field on settling before driving him to the line, finishing less than a length from victory in the 13-strong field. That proved to be a solid work-out for today’s 1200m journey where he is already a track and distance winner. Bullock sticks with him today and with fitter for that first-up run, he will take beating here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.5 BRIEFLY ($7 with BlueBet)
The Craig Clegg-trained BRIEFLY is another local galloper who boasts a strong record at the track and three starts into this campaign, she looks ready to win today. Last start, the well-bred Testa Rossa mare (out of a Magic Albert mare), finished just behind the placegetters in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1000m. Regular rider, Grant Buckley, was aboard that day for his ninth ride on the mare who chased them all the way home, finishing just a length out of the money. Buckley sticks with her here as she drops in weight for today’s contest. Fourth-up, she should be nearing her peak and from gate three, maps to settle in the first half-dozen. Already a two-time winner at the track and distance, she looks set for a big one today at odds.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 4: No.4 MISS NICOLINI ($8.50 with Ladbrokes)
Locally-trained by Craig Martin, MISS NICOLINI lines-up here as an improver and third-up today can give this contest a real shake. Last start, the Love Conquers All mare was second-up when she beat all but one home in a BM58 Hcp over 1450m at Quirindi. She came from well back that day and took the corner as the widest runner, then finished strongly to beaten just a neck on the line. Today, she drops in weight and has Ben Looker returning for the ride who steered the mare to her maiden win. The stable fits the tongue tie for today’s contest and fitter for two runs back, she looks a real threat to the topweight (and race-favourite) Dimension.
