The Peter Graham-trained GOLD CARD is Port Macquarie-based but boasts success here and looks in his element in this contest. Last start, the Unencumbered gelding found the Class 3 Hwy Hcp at Rosehill just a little too rich, finishing down the track that day in the 1200m event. He did run a new personal best however, covering the tip, 2.7 lengths slower than benchmark, second-best to Gobbled. Anna Roper rode the four-year-old to victory here two starts back and has the reins again today. Back on known territory today, he should prove hard to beat in this contest.

Local galloper AUSTEJA loves racing here and on fresh legs today, looks right in the mix. Last start, the Poet’s Voice mare made the trip north of the border and took on a strong Class 4 field at Doomben. Not disgraced, she finished just behind the placegetters that day, running out the 1200m event, 1.4 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this field by more than 4 lengths. Back on home soil today, she has won three of her five starts here and has Andrew Gibbons back in the saddle who has previously steered her to victory. Already placed when first-up, she looks a genuine chance at odds today.
