BEST BET 🏆   

Race 4 No. 6 SALCHOW ($1.70) 

This looks to be a winnable race for SALCHOW. The three-year-old has had just the two career runs for a runner-up on debut at Bendigo over the 1100m before heading to Sandown and placing 6th behind Warmosa, going 1.4 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is nine lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. This looks much easier and we can expect the Nick Ryan-trained galloper to feature in the finish.

Race 6 No. 5 ANDOUILLETTE ($2.20) 

ANDOUILLETTE can go on with the job after scoring here on January 11. The Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained galloper has won two of three career starts and settled handy in this grade over the 1000m when fresh before winning by more than a length from Birdies Galore. He was a four length improver on benchmark figures when second up last time, finishing runner-up at Horsham, while the son of Russian Revolution can box seat from barrier 1. 

NEXT BEST 🥈   

Race 1 No. 6 ARTSPACE ($2.60) 

ARTSPACE can go close in the opener. The Busuttin/Young galloper was warming up late over the 1600m two starts ago when 3rd at Cranbourne before leading in the small field at Yarra Glen over the 1968m on January 4, finishing runner-up behind Anthurium. He led that day and couldn’t quite match the eventual winner in the straight but spaced the 3rd placegetter. The son of Tavistock will strip fitter at his second run at the distance range and should take some beating.
