The Mark Newnham-trained DIAMOND DRUMMER has been knocking on the door at his past few and looks set to break the Maiden shackles here today. Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding came off back-to-back runner-up finishes when he made his first appearance in city class company and did well to grab third prize in a 1550m Maiden at Canterbury. He ran his last 600m, 3.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here. He is now four starts into this preparation and should be rock-hard fit for this contest. Josh Parr is aboard for the fourth time and with the blinkers going back on, he looks the testing material here.

Race 6:  No.1  OAKFIELD WARATAH  ($7 with Palmerbet)

Local galloper OAKFIELD WARATAH is third-up today and looks well placed here for back-to-0back victories. Last start, the Dissident gelding improved sharply on his first-up effort when he broke through for his maiden win, here over the 1350m trip. He ran his last 600m, 1 length quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up and posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race as well. Koby Jennings sticks with him and he gets the gun-run from gate one as he maps to be box-seating on settling. With so much going for him here, he looks right in the mix and at odds as well.

The Taree-based SWAMP NATION is second-up today and looks ready to go one better here. Last start, the Stratum Star mare was fresh off a lengthy 30-week break when she impressed greatly by beating all bit one home in the Jacaranda Cup over 1115m at Grafton. Beaten just half a length on the line, she ran her last 600m, 2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. Already a winner when second-up and a three-time winner over the trip, she looks a solid each-way chance in this contest.
