It is the Caulfield Season Finale at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday. This is the final meeting of the winter at the Melbourne-based venue, with the Group Three Bletchingly Stakes being the highlight of the afternoon.
The Bletchingly Stakes is a weight for age contest, and it is run over the distance of 1200 metres. It was won in 2024 by Recommendation.

Bridal Waltz heads into this year’s Bletchingly Stakes on the back of an excellent victory in the Creswick Stakes, a Listed contest over 1200m at Flemington. The filly made every metre of the running in the race, reversing her form with She’s An Artist.
Peter Moody revealed that he trained Bridal Waltz differently going into the Creswick Stakes, ensuring she was ready to peak in that race. He is likely to stick to that same formula in preparation for this Group Three race, and she may take some catching from the front end of the field.
Baraqiel has headed the early betting for the Bletchingly Stakes ever since the 12 nominations were revealed on Saturday. This will be his first start back since injury, and his connections have said they will leave it as late as possible before confirming if he will feature or not. Troy Corstens admitted he would have preferred his runner’s comeback to be over 1100m, so that must be a concern for supporters of the horse.
James Cummings will saddle three runners in the feature at Caulfield, with Inhibitions, Kallos and Kin set to represent Godolphin’s head trainer. The betting suggests there is no standout contender of those three horses.
Based on form and readiness for this winter finale, Bridal Waltz ticks all the right boxes and is the best bet to finish the campaign on a high.

Race number 7 (Stow Storage Solutions)
At the back end of 2024, Berkeley Square produced a consistent run of results, with two victories and two runner-up finishes in four starts. Unfortunately, his form has dipped this winter, particularly on his last couple of appearances.
His run in the Winter Championship Series Final at Flemington earlier this month was his first outing since February, and there were signs of rustiness in that race. He should be much fitter for this latest assignment. If he can bounce back and show the same level of form as he did last summer, he looks great value to land the first prize in this race.
