BEST BET: AELIANA

Caulfield Thousand (Race 7)

Aeliana has taken a big step forward on her last two outings since stepping up in distance. She won the Group Three Reginald Quality at Randwick over 1400m, while on her latest run, she prevailed in the Group Three Carbine Club Stakes at Flemington.

Chris Waller’s filly produced her best performance over 1600m in her more recent success. She was well on top at the finish, putting just short of four lengths between herself and her rivals at the finish.

The daughter of Castelvecchio has a huge future ahead of her over this distance and it can begin with victory in the Caulfield Thousand.

SECOND BEST BET: Another Wil

Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (Race 9)

Another Wil is a lightly raced horse for his age. The five-year-old has hardly put a hoof wrong this season, with two victories from three starts. His only defeat came in the Group One Toorak Handicap at this course where the race did not pan out well for him.

Ciaron Maher’s gelding was victorious at this venue back in August over 1400m. His latest run in the Group Two The Damien Oliver was a career-best performance. He has clearly come out of that race well, as his trainer has opted for a quick reappearance.

As you would expect in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes, this race has attracted some strong entries. However, none stand out more than Another Wil, who can establish himself as one of the best horses in this division.

Best Value: Tobeornottobe

Thoroughbred of Australia Stakes (Race 6)

Tobeornottobe has performed consistently well this season without success. She was only a length behind the winner last time out in the Group Three Red Rose Stakes (1100m) at Flemington when fourth of 14 runners.

The three-year-old sprinter has performed well in big fields before, and with a little luck on her side this time around, she can land the top prize in the Thoroughbred of Australia Stakes by getting the better of the red-hot favourite Rich Dottie.
