Best Bets For J.J Atkins At Eagle Farm
The Group One J.J Atkins is one of the highlights on a bumper card from Eagle Farm this Saturday on Stradbroke Day. It looks set to be a stellar renewal of the $1 million contest this year.
Here are the best bets for the J.J Atkins and some of the supporting races on the card at Eagle Farm.
BEST BET: COOL ARCHIE
Race number tbc (J.J ATKINS)
Cool Archie has been victorious in his last four appearances on the track, with his latest success coming in the Group Two Produce Stakes at Eagle Farm, where he got the better of Grafterburners.
The last performance was the best of Cool Archie’s career so far. There was a large field at Eagle Farm, and he was tucked away at the back for the majority of the contest. Once asked to quicken inside the final 400 metres, he surged to the front, passing every rival along the way.
A step up to 1600m looks ideal for Chris and Corey Munce’s two-year-old colt. He is bred to get this distance, and he has won going away from his rivals on his last four outings. Expect to see him ridden patiently once again here, and with an extra 200 metres, he has even more time to get into full stride.
Grafterburners was a little unlucky in the Produce Stakes as he did not get the run of the race. However, even with improvement here, he may find himself battling it out for second place behind Cool Archie.
SECOND BEST BET: JUST PARTY
Race number 1 – Gunsynd Classic
Just Party has been running consistently well this season without getting the rewards for his performance. He finished a close second on his penultimate outing at Hawkesbury, going down by only a nose. The three-year-old finished ahead of some good horses that day, and a repeat of that run would see him go very close again here.
Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexious’ runner was not at his best last time out at Doomben, but he did not get the run of the contest, so that can be forgiven. This looks like a great opportunity for him to take the first prize.
BEST VALUE: PIER
Race number 2 – Seven The Wayne Wilson
Transatlantic is the red-hot favourite in the Seven The Wayne Wilson, and there is no doubt he deserves his spot at the top of the betting. However, he has had a busy schedule over the last couple of months, so that might catch up with him here.
Pier is one of the horses in this field that is going to benefit from a strong pace. He will be flying home in the closing stages of this contest, and he looks much better value in the betting than Transatlantic.
