Eagle Farm Racing Tips 24 Oct 2026: Get Ready Lass Again?

Overview

Get Ready Lass has been to Eagle Farm six times and finished in the first three on five of them. That record matters more than usual today, because the Ladbrokes Cox Plate Raceday card has been moved here from Doomben after the wet weather, and the site lists the track as heavy. When the ground is this testing, horses that already know the place are worth leaning on.

There are ten races, opening with a 2yo sprint at 11:18AM and closing with a mile handicap at 5:20PM. Scratchings have hit hard, with the fields for Races 4, 6, 9 and 10 losing between five and eight runners each, so several races are smaller than the original acceptances suggested. These Eagle Farm racing tips go race by race with a clear pick and a staking line for each, then finish with the plays for the day. Expect a lot of T J Gollan: the stable has runners right through the card, and its numbers at this track are the strongest on the program.

Reading the Eagle Farm card

The going is the first thing to factor in. The site has Eagle Farm rated heavy, and with the meeting switched from Doomben at short notice, a few runners that were set for a different track are now racing here. Course form gets extra weight in this preview for that reason.

Plenty of today’s runners have real Eagle Farm experience. These are the horses with five or more starts here:

Horse Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
Brindavan 5 1 5 20% 100%
Get Ready Lass 6 1 5 17% 83%
Moonhaven 5 2 3 40% 60%
Golden Cross 6 2 3 33% 50%
Noble Conqueror 5 2 2 40% 40%
Demon Darb 5 1 1 20% 20%
Millane 6 1 1 17% 17%
Naval Seal 6 1 1 17% 17%

Ben Thompson is the busiest rider here, and his strike rate holds up across a big sample. Anna Roper’s figures come from 20 rides, which is enough to notice but not to build a day around.

Jockey Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
Anna Roper 20 5 10 25% 50%
Ben Thompson 189 40 89 21% 47%
Ryan Maloney 105 12 47 11% 45%
Tahlia Fenlon 41 5 18 12% 44%
Jace Mcmurray 104 12 42 12% 40%
Taylor Marshall 73 6 29 8% 40%
Bella Youngberry 34 4 13 12% 38%

Gollan has saddled 334 runners at Eagle Farm, so his numbers carry real weight. When Thompson rides for him here, they have won 14 times from 49 runs together and placed 32 times.

Trainer Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
C Maher 61 8 31 13% 51%
Chris Anderson 27 3 13 11% 48%
Todd Pollard 23 7 11 30% 48%
Jack Bruce 63 9 29 14% 46%
T J Gollan 334 50 153 15% 46%
Michael Freedman 75 13 32 17% 43%
Pat W Webster 33 7 14 21% 42%

Race-by-race Eagle Farm predictions

Race 1: Ladbrokes Cox Plate Raceday 2yo, 11:18AM, 1000m

Six two-year-olds are left after Mishani Kimitsu‘s scratching, and none of them has a result in the past 90 days. That leaves no form to separate them. She Had A Plan carries the Gollan colours with Angela Jones aboard, and Iconic Scenes gets Ryan Maloney, but neither has raced. On a heavy track, with nothing to go on, this is one to watch for future reference.

Watch race, no bet.

Race 2: Ladbrokes Tote Win +10% In October (Bm70), 11:53AM, 2200m

Can Amelioration win three in a row on a step up in grade? That’s what the market has to settle, and I’d rather be on the horse that has already done it here. Trusty Bandit won a BM68 at Eagle Farm on 14 October with D Moor aboard, eight days after winning at Kilcoy. Moor keeps the ride, and the horse has three wins from eight starts in the past 90 days.

Amelioration is the danger and the value. She won her last two at the Sunshine Coast, a C1 over 1800m on 25 September and a C2 over 2200m on 9 October. She was entered there again yesterday before that meeting was abandoned, so she comes in fresh. Anna Roper’s claim brings her down to 53.5kg, and that is a real help on heavy ground.

Trusty Bandit to win, with a saver on Amelioration.

Race 3: Ladbrokes Winx 2018 (Rs0mw), 12:29PM, 1300m

Two horses here won their last two starts, and they did it in different ways. Smoke On The Water won a BM68 at Doomben on 5 October and before that won over 1400m at the Sunshine Coast. M Rodd rode him both times and stays on today. Music Fever has won two C4 sprints, at Ipswich on 8 October and Beaudesert in September, and she gets in with 53kg against his 58kg.

The class of the Doomben win decides it for me. Smoke On The Water has beaten better horses, and Gaultier, who ran third behind him that day, comes out of a good form line in Race 4. The weight swing still makes Music Fever a genuine threat, especially if the heavy track turns this into a test of carrying weight. Ready For Aimee, with two wins from four in the past 90 days for Gollan, rounds out the three.

Smoke On The Water to win, with Music Fever in exactas.

Race 4: Ladbrokes Lys Gracieux 2019 Hcp (65), 1:09PM, 1300m

Pearls In June is the one. She has run at Eagle Farm twice for a win and a placing, she was third here over 1200m on 23 September, and she then won at the Gold Coast on 10 October at odds-on. That’s two wins from three starts in the past 90 days. The scratchings, including Apollo Ten, Azuki and Barrelling, have taken a fair chunk out of the field, which helps a horse drawn wide like her.

Gaultier is the danger. The Waller gelding ran second here over 1400m in September and then third behind Smoke On The Water at Doomben. Ryan Maloney rides, and he places in nearly half his rides at Eagle Farm. Yes Donald Yes, who has placed in all four of his runs in the past 90 days, is the each-way outsider.

Pearls In June to win.

Race 5: Ladbrokes Sir Dragonet 2020 (Bm78), 1:49PM, 1600m

Waller sends three into this, and Bluepinot has the form that stands up. He was third here over the mile on 10 October and won a BM70 at Toowoomba before that. Before that again he ran second in a BM78 at Doomben. He has placed four times from five starts in the past 90 days, and Jace Mcmurray, who rode him at Toowoomba and here last start, stays on.

Twisted Queen is the steady danger. She has also placed four times in her last five, but hasn’t won in that stretch, and her 53.5kg will matter late in a heavy-track mile. Cantarito, another Waller runner, won one of his four starts in the window and is the stable’s other chance. The scratching of All Kinds Of Folk takes out one of the wet-track names.

Bluepinot to win.

Race 6: Ladbrokes State Of Rest 2021 Plate (C3), 2:29PM, 1200m

Eight scratchings leave a smaller field and a less clear picture. Strada Varenna won on her only Eagle Farm start, a BM70 over this distance in late August, and then ran second at the Gold Coast. Bella Youngberry rides at 54.5kg. She is the most likely winner, but not by much.

Dark Arts has placed in both Eagle Farm starts, winning one, and he is the Gollan runner most likely to be in the finish. Miss Funny Honey has two wins from six in the past 90 days and comes in with some momentum.

A small each-way bet on Strada Varenna and nothing more.

Race 7: Ladbrokes Anamoe 2022 Hcp, 3:09PM, 1200m

This 3yo handicap is full of lightly raced horses, and Jimmy The Scat has the form that looks most likely to improve. He ran second at Doomben at long odds on 30 September, then won a maiden here on 14 October over this distance, with M R du Plessis riding both times. Du Plessis keeps the ride, and 55.5kg is fair for a horse who is still improving.

Aurora Blaze has won one and placed in both runs in the past 90 days, and she gets in light. Fleeting Boom is the Gollan and Ben Thompson runner and has the same record. With Swift Dragon and Adora Djon’s scratched, this has come down to the few who are still improving.

Jimmy The Scat to win, with a saver on Fleeting Boom.

Race 8: Ladbrokes Romantic Warrior 2023 Hcp (C6), 3:56PM, 1000m

Fleetwood keeps getting into the finish without winning. He has run four times at Eagle Farm and placed in three of them, including seconds over 1000m here on 5 September and 3 October. Jade Hampson rode him on the first of those and is back on. Gollan wouldn’t keep bringing him here if the track didn’t suit.

Moonhaven has the better Eagle Farm win record, two wins from five, but his last two runs here in August were well beaten. Millane won here at 40/1 in early September and has since finished eighth and sixth, so he needs to improve on that to win. Fleetwood‘s consistency makes him the place bet of the day.

Each-way on Fleetwood.

Race 9: Ladbrokes Via Sistina 2024/2025 Hcp (C6), 4:39PM, 1000m

Get Ready Lass is the best bet at the meeting, and the case is straightforward. She has run at Eagle Farm six times and placed five times. In her last three runs here over this distance she ran third in a BM78 on 29 August, won a C3 on 5 September, and ran second on 10 October. M R du Plessis rode her in the last two and stays on. She knows this track, this trip and this jockey.

Five scratchings, including Zoubaby, have cut the field down, which helps her too. Divine Source won her only start in the window and gets in with 52kg and Tahlia Fenlon’s claim, so she is the danger if she handles the heavy ground. Gospel Girl has placed twice from three runs here.

Get Ready Lass to win. Strongest bet of the day.

Race 10: Ladbrokes Spring Racing Carnival Hcp, 5:20PM, 1600m

This is a rematch. On 3 October over this course and distance, Cunnamulla Fella beat Brindavan, who started at 13/10 and ran second. They meet again today at the same 56.5kg, and the draw now favours Brindavan: he jumps from gate 6, while Cunnamulla Fella has barrier 19 to work across from.

Brindavan has placed in all five of his Eagle Farm starts and in all three of his runs in the past 90 days, including a BM85 win at Doomben in August. Ben Thompson rides for Gollan, the combination with 14 wins together here. Cunnamulla Fella is no fluke either. He has won two and placed in four of his last five, and M Rodd stays aboard.

Golden Cross is the danger to both. He has won twice here and three times in the past 90 days, but his last two runs, sixth here and ninth at Newcastle, leave questions. Five scratchings, including Last Command and Perfect Play, take some depth out of the race.

Brindavan to win and place, with a quinella saver with Cunnamulla Fella.

Where the money goes

NAP: Get Ready Lass (Race 9, 4:39PM). She has finished in the first three in five of her six Eagle Farm starts, and the scratchings have made this race easier for her.

Value: Amelioration (Race 2, 11:53AM). She has won her last two, comes in fresh after yesterday’s Sunshine Coast meeting was abandoned, and gets in at 53.5kg with the apprentice’s claim. A horse on a winning run doesn’t often get in this light.

Banker: Brindavan (Race 10, 5:20PM). He hasn’t missed a place at Eagle Farm in five attempts, which makes him the most reliable leg for a multi.

Each-way: Fleetwood (Race 8, 3:56PM). He has placed in three of his four runs here, and he keeps running in his races.

Course angle: T J Gollan with Ben Thompson. They have won 14 races together at Eagle Farm from 49 runs and placed 32 times. Today they team up with Fleeting Boom and Brindavan.

If the rain keeps sending Brisbane meetings here, it’s worth noting which Gollan horses handled today’s heavy ground.
