Gatton Racing Tips 27 June 2026 — can Vacillation finally win?
Opening
There’s one horse on this Gatton card that keeps turning up, keeps being there when it matters, and keeps finding one better. Vacillation is the sort of runner punters either swear by or swear at, and today’s 1750m C3 at 11:59 is another fork-in-the-road run: draw 1, workable weight, and a field that doesn’t look stacked with killers.
That’s the through-line for this meeting. We’ve got three races on turf, two at 1750m and a sharp 941m 3YO maiden to start. Plenty of these are still learning their job, so you want to lean on the things that are real: barrier maps, riders who consistently ride the track well, and trainers who repeatedly place their horses to run top-three here. These Gatton racing tips are written exactly like you and I would talk about it over a coffee: what wins the race, what can go wrong, and where the money should actually go.
Gatton — the setup
Limited course form across today’s fields. Most runners either haven’t been here or only have one or two goes at Gatton, so I’m not treating any single run as gospel. Where there is meaningful repeat evidence, it sits more with the people than the horses.
On the jockey front, Tahlia Fenlon is the name that jumps off the page at this track: 4 rides for 2 wins. That’s enough volume to take seriously. Chloe Lowe has a deeper sample here with 6 rides and two wins, and she hits the frame three times. Then you’ve got riders like Harrison Shaw and Damien Boche who ride here plenty and consistently put you in the fight.
For trainers, a couple of barns repeatedly get it right at Gatton. R G Lipp has 10 runners here for 4 winners and 6 placings, and M A Kropp has 8 runners for 3 winners and 5 placings. That’s proper evidence, not a one-off. For the purposes of today’s races, that matters because it helps you separate “random country runner” from “placed where it can win”.

Race-by-race
Race 1: Will You Marry Me Lisa? Mdn Plate — 11:24, 941m
The race asks a simple question: who actually wants to be in front in a 941m dash with a handful of mystery runners? I’m siding with Stout Hearted purely on map and intent. Barrier 1 in a short run to the bend at Gatton is gold when half the field is drawn awkwardly, and Chloe Lowe is one of the few riders on this card with a proper winning record at the track. If she bounces and holds a position, a lot of these will be chasing from the wrong spot.
The obvious danger is The Solicitor, because the form line “646622” tells you it keeps finding the line and it’s not scared of a contest. Gate 6 is manageable, and if the inside runner hesitates early, this is the horse that can park closer than most and simply grind past them late.
I’ll keep it clean here. Win bet Stout Hearted. If you want a saver, it’s a small quinella with The Solicitor because it’s the only runner in the race bringing genuine consistency.
Race 2: Lockyer Valley Toyota Hcp (C3) — 11:59, 1750m
The market is going to make you choose between the classy profile and the reliable profile. I’m with Vacillation. It’s been knocking on the door for what feels like forever (form “122334”) and it finally gets the setup you want over 1750m: barrier 1 and a weight that doesn’t crush it. Archie MC Colm doesn’t need to be cute from there. Hold a spot, save ground, and make the others go around you. That’s how you win these at Gatton.
There’s also enough little course evidence to say it handles Gatton: it has placed in both visits here (2 runs at the track for 2 placings). That’s not a “specialist” label, but it does tell you the circuit isn’t a problem.
The danger is Rugby with the strong recent form string “851302”. It’s drawn 4, carries the big weight, and if the tempo is controlled mid-race, it’s the horse that can sprint and pinch it off a soft run.
This is the best betting race on the card because the map gives you a clear edge. Win bet Vacillation, and I’d be happy to take it straight rather than dressing it up with too many exotics.

Race 3: Rdo Equipment Gatton Mdn Plate — 12:34, 1750m
Big field, awkward draws, and a heap of runners who have had enough chances to tell you what they are. I’m going to be decisive anyway: Kalamia King is the bet. The form “0-5542” reads like a horse that’s slowly worked out what racing is, and gate 5 is a huge advantage in a race where plenty of the others are starting from the carpark.
Two riders stand out as genuine “Gatton-safe hands” and one of them is on the main danger. Acts Alone gets Harrison Shaw, who has 13 rides here for 2 wins and 7 placings. I don’t love the draw (14), but in these 1750m maidens you often see the field string out and the wide barrier becomes less poisonous if the rider commits early and finds cover. The Kropp stable also owns a serious record at Gatton, which makes any of their runners more likely to be placed correctly.
If you’re shopping for a knockout chance, Talleyrand from barrier 1 with Jess Emmerson can easily sneak into the placings if it holds the fence and gets luck. It’s not a confident win push for me, but it’s a logical run style.
Staking: Win bet Kalamia King. Small saver quinella with Acts Alone if the market pushes Kalamia King too short.
The plays
My main position on the day is Vacillation in Race 2 (11:59). That inside gate at 1750m is the sort of advantage you can actually bank, and the horse has been living in the finish without getting the right run to put them away. Today it should.
For value, I’d rather play the early maiden than get cute in the big last. Stout Hearted (Race 1, 11:24) draws to control the race, and Chloe Lowe’s record at Gatton is strong enough to trust when the race is full of unknowns. It’s a win bet, not an each-way prayer.
If you’re building a multi, the banker is still Vacillation because it has fewer ways to lose than the maidens. The each-way profile, if you want one, sits with The Solicitor in Race 1 because that “646622” run of form screams “I’ll run top three again”.
Course angle for the day: keep backing riders who repeatedly ride Gatton well, especially from low draws in these small-country fields. That’s an edge you can reuse every time this track pops up.
