Race 1 No. 1 CROSSHILL- ($2.05)

Going with CROSSHILL in the opener. The lightly raced eight-year-old is yet to win on the flat but has been close up in recent times and did all the hard work at the track and trip on July 14 when a narrow runner-up behind Castel Trosino. The Aaron Purcell-trained galloper was wide throughout and kept coming, putting a big gap on the rest of them. He comes into this full of fitness and will take some beating.

Race 3 No 3 FLY LIE – ($3.50)

FLY LIE can go one spot better than a first up effort that saw him finish runner-up behind Turf Two at Donald on July 10. The three-year-old was slowly away that day before settling midfield and came out very wide in the home straight, producing the fastest last 200m before landing in the runner-up slot. The Mitchell Freedman-trained galloper comes in with the best last start benchmark figure of any runner and should be open to improvement at what will be just his third career start and second at his current prep. 

NEXT BEST 🥈 

Race 4 No. 7 PICKAXE- ($3.30)

PICKAXE just needs to overcome the wide barrier to be a major factor in Race 4. The Maher/Eustace galloper has has just the one career start and settled leaders back at Sandown on a Heavy deck on July 5 before working home well to finish runner-up behind Refreshing. The son of Pierro went a healthy 3.2 lengths faster than standard benchmark, indicating that a win shouldn’t be too far away. A firmer in the early betting, Linda Meech rides and strikes as 27% for the stable, providing a 17% profit on turnover for punters.
